Pale gold with a medium white head that fades quickly to a film. Grainy aromas with a slight earthy hop character lingering in the background. Clean grainy, pilsner flavor supported by slightly spicy hops and a clean finishing bitterness. Medium body. Classic example of a Munich Helles.

Espuma efímera, color dorado transparente, ligero aroma en nariz, sabor muy suave, sin excesivos matices, regusto amargo del lúpulo.

500 ml. bottle poured into a lager glass. Clear gold pour with a slight white head that leaves thin lacing. Aroma of hay, grass, and grain. Has a dry, watery feel, pretty run of the mill for a German Helles. Refreshing, would pair well with bratwurst. Has a soft, malty effect, with a decent hoppy bite in the aftertaste. Just doesn’t have anything going for it to separate it from the pack.

Draft at Bierstube. Clear bright gold pour. Fizzy white head reduced to just a tiny white ring and small islands of lace. Glossy bready flavors. Yellow plums. Plantains. Grassy green grapes. Good for the style.

On tap from 5 Liter mini-keg, poured into red solo cup. Nice clear yellow color. Faint apple aroma, no typical beer aroma. Taste is crisp and clean with hint of apple and weak floral hop. Like water on the palate. Overall I think the full splendor of the beer was lost in the meal pairing with braised brisket and baked beans. When consumed with spicy mustard covered bratwurst and potato salad I bet it complements the food much better. Not a pizza/burger beer, but I’d drink it again ... and again.

Sampled on draught at the Hofbräuhaus. That is the Hofbräuhaus in Las Vegas, not the real one in Munich. A pleasant, well-made Helles. Slightly floral hops, and a good balance between malt flavours and hop bitterness. The real thing, not an imitation. You can’t beat years of tradition!

50cl bottle from Systembolaget, Strömstad. Pours clear golden with a rather small, white head. Grainy aroma with some fruity notes, hints of cooked vegetables, honey, herbs and grass. Moderate to medium sweet with mild grainy and slightly herbal flavours and a somewhat decent bitterness. Far from impressive in my book, more like a half decent premium lager. Quite disappointing.

Pours a brilliant gold with a brilliant white head. That would rate a four but the head evaporates and gives no lace. The aroma is just slightly unpleasant: hay, floral, and basement aromas. Too much perfume. Brief sweetness gives way to overpowering bitter and sour: off balance flavor. Palate it almost pleasant but unremarkable. In spite of my negative comments it’s quite drinkable. A good thirst quencher but not much else.

Tap @ Hofbräuhaus (Cleveland): Served in a one liter dimpled mug. Toasted amber color with a huge, frothy white head that foams up like a cloud. Aroma of fresh grain, barley, toasted biscuits, light honey, very faint grassy notes, baked bread. Pretty raw & light, very inviting. Flavor is loaded with toasted barley, honey coated grains, biscuits, baked bread, grass, faint lemon zest, a hint of metallic caramel, & a big waft of crisp, dry yeast in the finish. Light Noble hop bitterness, a touch of earthiness that lingers with the grain flavor. Not bad.

A decent German lager. The beer pours a bright and clear straw color with a decent sized white head. The head leaves a bit of lacing around the inside of the glass. The nose is mostly cereal with a light touch of grassy hops. The body is on the lighter side but the flavors are pretty delicious. I tasted plenty of hops with a bitter finish.
