Light golden with a frothy head that subsides into a decent half-inch of sustined head over a bubbly clear beer. A basic german lager is not my favorite style, but for what it is, this is pretty well done. Aromas of sweetish malt, barely noticeable hops and a familiar lager yeasty character. The flavor is smooth, clean and crisp, but with a slightly bitter-hop aftertaste. Not a stunning beer, but does what it does pretty well. Recommended if you want a light, clean unchallenging beer.

DATE TASTED: November 21, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... OCCASION: a double review Sunday... APPEARANCE: lively, bubbly body that light gold; head is snow white, fluffy and a bit soapy, with swirling arches of lacing... AROMA: doughy and flowery, with a light fragrance of perfume; delicate and almost apologetic in its approach... PALATE: clean, crisp and light in body; texture is smooth...highly drinkable...TASTE: nicely balanced hops and malts produce a mellow, subtly sweet experience; the bubblegum in the yeast is appreciable; malts are grainy and cereal, almost toasted oats...the hops are soft, evoking fields of flowers... OVERALL: what one expects from a German Helles--a sharp-as-cheddar slicing through the palate, with a dry finish and some spiciness to boot...a beer whose great experience trumps its good individual aspects...

Tasting at Hackney’s Printers Row. A sweet, malty, grainy lager with a bit of toasty caramel on the finish. Crisp and clean finish. Simple but excellent.

Aroma: grain and bread malts, caramel and biscuit, some yeast. Appearance: clear gold, medium, frothy to creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: soft sweets continue, grains and cereal malts, bread, turns very mildly bitter in the finish, lively carbonation. Overall: decent Helles, nothing too complex, but fairly solid.

Rating #1180 - Bottle from CBI 15.07.2014. Bold golden pour with a thick, white foam, decent retention. Aroma is strong malty sweetness, caramel, ripe fleshy fruits, cereal grains, mild grassiness. Taste is boldly hopped for a lager, lots of earthy notes, but balance is quite impressive. Crisp, refreshing, and smooth tasting.
