4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 Wulfstan (509) - California, USA - APR 21, 2008
This is a wonderful beer. It’s bright, somewhat pale, gold with a huge, creamy white head that shrinks slowly to leave a permanent small head & beautiful, even rings of lace down the glass. The aroma has honey, a lot of lightly toasted grain, hints of lemon, pine, sulphur, and even a little toffee.
In taste, it’s mostly rather creamy malt with bread, lemon, pine, and very zesty. It’s mostly lightly sweet with a light, aromatic bitterness near the finish. It’s smooth & full-bodied, yet still crisp and refreshing. It’s wonderful with food and is incredibly drinkable.

This beer is so good it’s great. Probably the first beer I ever had, when I was like 18, in Munich at the Hofbreaehaus. Yum. Delicious.

The perfect brew from Munchen. Have not had a bad one yet. Always a good pick. Aroma similar to Corona w/lime. Taste mild bitterness. Somewhat dry mouthfeel. Goes down easy with any food. Quality from the German purity law. Good for the style.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 rampmaster (642) - Alden, New York, USA - JUL 21, 2010
Presentation: It was poured from a green 11.2oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The bottle has no freshness date or any info other than the style.
Appearance: It has a bright yellow body with very good clarity and some visible carbonation. The head is tall and full of soft white bubbles. Its retention is good as it slowly fades to a thin covering, that with a little swirl of the glass, lasts all the way to the last sip. On the glass it leaves behind some nice spotty lacing.
Smell: There are note of light pale malt notes with a solid floral/spicy/grassy hop presence.
Taste/Palate: Its flavor has a delicate sweet bready or sugar cookie like maltiness up front with a lemon meringue pie like undertone. Nice spicy/floral hop notes soon move in and add their bitterness and character. The hop character is in my opinion is in perfect balance to the malt. The finish has a good snappy, crisp and dry character that makes it extremely drinkable.
Notes: Again to sum up this beer it is well balanced, tasty and easy to drink. It makes for a good summer drinking beer and works well with a light snack of soft sour dough pretzels.

A classic Helles lager. I have had it on Tap at the Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München and Hofbräuhaus Milwaukee as well as in bottle. It is a crisp, clean golden lager with a touch of noble hops and a fresh bread-like malt bill.

Ach! Mein Gott!
OK, OK, so maybe my High School german is failing me. I poured this from a 12oz bottle into a real half-liter krug, and true to form it left a huge white head. A slight hop/malt nose, and the mouthfeel is right on target. Sweet malt, just a perfect amount of hops, giving a wonderful, soft Munich Helles experience!

Perhaps my taster is off compared to the others who have rated this beer, but I was very favorably impressed, as my score indicates. The fluffy head settled in nicely and the aroma was nice and "beery" without smelling like cheap swill (does that make sense?). What surprised me the most was the flavor, which reminded me of clover honey and mild hops. The mouthfeel and carbonation were nice and smooth and if I could keep lots of this in the fridge without going broke, I would. ($3 a bottle and an hour’s drive away for me)
