.5 liter bottle. Pours a hazed woody nutty brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty, toast, mixed between spicy peppery phenolics/clove and also fruity esters banana, green raisin, and even slight green apple- toast, nuts, dough and yeast. Flavor is earthy, leathery, toast, biscuit, fruity esters, caramel, slight mineral ash hint, light banana, and toffee in the end. Dry and earthy with a light dry finish. Ok.

Aroma: Very strong banana aroma, plus figs, apricots, etc. Some coffee too. Super fresh. Mouthfeel: Medium and foamy mouthfeel. Taste: Super fruity (see above), slightly tart, and just a touch of bitterness. I like it very much. Finish: Very dry and fruity. No bitterness whatsoever. Overall: A very good example. Superb for refreshment.

50cl bottle, fresh. Not your typical Dunkelweizen, with a near-opaque acajou colour, notes of porter-like roasted malts, yet light mouthfeel, this surprisingly tasty, oxymoronic beer is aptly named. Pear from the yeast, milk chocolate and some char from the malts, cinnemon and pepper spice from well-dosed hops. Interesting beer on all levels, very well and cleanly executed for the notoriously murky & moorish Dunkelweizen style.

Rating #1072 - May 2, 2014 - @Beerblast event at the Hangar. Pour is a dark brown with a fairly frothy beige head with decent retention. Aroma is very malty, with puffed wheat square aroma, mild grassiness. Taste is smooth, malty, and very thick. Really pleasant finish that is beyond palatable. Dericious.

(500 ml bottle, bought in Norway.) Pours with the typical large & lingering weissbier head, colour of the beer is brown, not black as the name suggests. Slightly hazy. Pleasant aroma of fresh baked bread and weissbier yeast, hints of dark syrup and caramel. Flavour has a slight roastiness and some farmhouse bread character, smooth and pleasant to drink, but not very complex. Just enough hops to leave a pleasant aftertaste, but like most weissbiers the aftertaste does not last "forever". This is a decent but unpretentious beer, a nice accompaniment with a meal or as a refreshment on its own.

Bottled 50cl. It pours a hazy dark amber beer with a nice head. The aroma is sweet, dominated by banana and caramel. Hints of roasted malt, faintly smoky. A sweet and watery taste. Some caramel, rather earthy. Pear, banana and brown sugar. This beer is quite thin bodied with a weak but very interesting palate. Toasty. The slight smokiness in the taste is rather enjoyable. This dunkelweizen isn’t boring, the body is just thin. Faint yeasty and fruity (apples) finish. The flavors are very enjoyable, it’s just the thin body that doesn’t quite match with the taste.
