(Rating #3881)

On tap at the Chinesischer Turm Biergarten, in Munich. Nice for a summers day. Thick creamy white head. Clear amber pour. Slightly bitter. Nice :-)

My Bottom Line :
Nicely developed light caramel malts nearly cover this Bock’s earthy hops and their balancing bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam covers the clear pale amber.
-The malt flavors are honeyed but also lightly caramelized.
-A soft fullness is built by the peaceful effervescence and plump residual sugars.
-This is a malt-focused brew all the way; linear, yes, but good.

On tap at the Chinesischer Turm Biergarten, in Munich.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2010 Had at Chinesischer Turm Munich. A pleasant example of a heller bock. Light enough to be refreshing but full flavored. Not a super big fan of Hofbrau’s helles so nice to have this option at the biergarten. Serving: Tap

Tap (Hofbraeu Regensburg). Astringent red cherry and light barley malt aroma. Clear amber color with moderate head. Sweet cherry and barley malt with a moderate astringent finish. Very nice.

This is an excellent, toasty, well-rounded, characterful maibock. It’s reddish copper with a medium, off-white head shrinking slowly to a thin, permanent top, with a little weak lace. The aroma is a rich, wonderful maibock with strong, sweet toasted bread, whole wheat, thick raisiny-fruity alcohol, hints of leaves and brown sugar. The taste is similar, with rich, dark raisiny alcohol and spiciness, rich sweet toasted bread, and hints of leaves and dried fruit. It has full sweetness balanced by light spicey-herbal-leafy bitterness and dried-fruit spiciness. The elements balance nicely and it has a full, frothy feel.

Gorgeous golden amber. Bright with a thick head. Fantastic liquid bread aroma. Fairly strong with an understated bread, breadcrust character. Pretty good, muscular bock, but I think I like the other HB bocks better.

Draft. Is a pure amber, nice looking brew with big fluffy head. Sweet caramelly aroma is a little bready with some juniper/gin. Slightly prickly palate does go down well. The flavors are really nice. More bread comes out here than in the aromas, with nice bread crust elements. Very nice bock.
