Bottle: Poured a hazy light dirty yellow color weizen with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of banana bread with light cloves and some light bubblegum notes. Taste is also dominated by banana bread notes with some light cloves notes and subtle bubblegum ester. Body is full with great carbonation. Vey refreshing notes with great esters.

500ml brown bottle from LCBO - as Hofbrau Munchen Hefe Weizen. Just the thing on my balcony on a gorgeous day after vigorous squash. Gold, slightly hazy, bubbly, smallish fizzy white head. Smells just right - estery yeast, fruit, lemon, a bit of banana and plenty of grassy bitterness. Taste follows, less tartness, more sweetness - a little syrupy, solid carbonation, a nice fruity tingly aftertaste. A solid one - not too heavy, so easy to drink.

500ml bottle - cloudy starw color -- smallish white cap for a heffe bu it laces well, Aroma of fruity, spice and sweet hints of bubblegum - primal hefe aroma but restrained .... Flavour is boiler plate hefeweizen - fruity bubble gum tones, spicy, dry, clean, quenching - but all very understated - probably the best commercial German hefe outside of Westy - better than Paulaner, Erdinger by a long shot ...actually quite decent for a commercial hefe and better than many domestic "craft" hefes. A good buy for the money
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chanfoli (8) - Kentucky, USA - JUN 13, 2013 does not count
Bought a single 500ml brown bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with thin head which fades to almost nothing in about a minute, might try rousing the yeast a bit more nest time i try to decant one.
Aroma is banana, with hints of grass and clove.
Taste builds on the yeast elements, banana clove, grass, hints of wheat and malt, with a hint of acidity. Nothing stands out, all is in balance. After a few moments at room teperature the flavors open up a bit more.
The carbonation is maybe a bit high for my liking, but it is still quite enjoyable, the body is refreshingly light but still present. The finish is clean and slightly dry, which is good.
Overall, this is a refreshing and balanced ale and a respectable interpretation of the style and thankfully it was now found in a brown bottle, no hint of skunk funk on this tasting.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1789) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 12, 2013
Single brown bottle from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a big white cap, good retention and lots of lace. Beautiful banana notes from the wheat with hints of spices. Again, starts off softly on the bananas and finishes on the wheat for taste. Quite refreshing overall and a very nice Hefe for those who like them on the banana side of things. Very good looking too.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 freeofthoughts (528) - Raytown, Missouri, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Tap pours orange hay yellow, very cloudy and dark. Smells musty of wheat, straw and banana citrus. The taste is much the same, familiar but great on tap. A nice spiced element comes in with a light clove and wheat pepper tingle. Solid and we’ll rounded.
3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 alexandersh (95) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Bottle; Color: Poured a pale mustard color with a creamy white head. Aroma: Smell is similar to Bud, a bit stronger but very similar. Flavor: Mild taste of bread, yeast and caramel. Had a very light vanilla finish, not bad.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 probstblueribbon (2418) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Hazy fairly deep golden with a large off-white head.
Aroma: Lots of banana esters, artificial banana flavour (popsicles, etc.), kinda tangy and a little zippy in the nostrils (citrus), some wet wheat/dough/yeast, maybe a little clove action, fairly good.
Palate: Medium body, relaxed effervescence.
Flav.: Lots of banana esters, a little clove, toasted wheat, some yeast and bread dough, a touch of booze (surprisingly), still a touch zippy...like tang but not quite, pleasant enough; dry, minimal bitterness, balanced banana and wheaty/biscuity finish.
Far from exemplary, nothing obviously wrong.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Frothmeister (394) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy beige with a thin off-white head, especially for a hefe weizen. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t had a hefe in a while, but this smells GREAT. Banana, clove, black peppercorn, lemon zest, yeast. Mmm. The taste is on the lighter side of things. Malt, and heavy hard water notes up front with lighter hefe weizen notes in the finish. (Yeast/spice/blackpepper) Not bad at all, but for the price you can definitely get a better example of the style.
