rauchbier (3667) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2013
Bottle, from The Dram Shop, Sheffield. Golden bright, with a white fluffy crown and gentle condition. Good grainy sweet maltiness in the nose, solid chalky maltiness in the mouth with a pleasant muted grassy hoppiness giving balance, some spicy pepperiness as it warms, finish has a refreshing lingering mineral chalkiness and persistent maltiness with a faint melanoidin edge.

50cl bottle from somewhere in Salzburg. Pours a crystal clear, pale yellow colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is lightly sweetened, somewhat bready pils malts with touches of grass and a few apple fruit notes. Flavor is better. Lightly sweetened, bready malts with a light grass throughout. Just a few fruity hints, but no acetaldehyde traces. Finishes clean, lightly bitter, and fairly dry with maybe a touch of toast. Short aftertaste following a light body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent Helles. Nothing special, but clean and very easy drinking with only a touch of acetaldehyde on the nose. Not bad.
