4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hardypc (34) - - FEB 26, 2013
Pours a dark clear liquid with a good sense of malt and grains. Not a bad finish, be careful when drinking out of the liter steins as they go down smooth and quick without the drinker realizing how much they have downed. A good beer and place to grab some unique brews.

Draft to mug at Hofbrauhaus. Looks decent; a transparent brown. Smells and tastes alright; some malt and hops. Average on the palate. Meh.

On tap at the brewpub. It was Andrew’s, thanks to him for letting me drink half his beer. Clear darker reddish brown color. Good off-white head that lasts, leaves dots of lace. Nice smooth lighter carbonation, dry finish. It’s a good texture and mouthfeel. Very fresh tasting. Good aroma, if a little light. Some dark fruit, toasty malts. Light bitterness. Have to admit, it’s a decent dunkel.

Clear dark amber with a thin tan topper. Aroma of caramel, pale malt and no real hops. Taste is ho-hum with caramel and malt. Easy drinkable and easily forgettable.

This is my go-to beer when I’m at hofbrau. It’s beautiful with a rich, dark copper color, with a nice tan head. The aromas are roasty, but sweet. It’s one I can drink all night.

This is the only beer I’ve honestly had at Newport’s Hofbrauhaus. Why look elsewhere? Perfectly acceptable brew that can be enjoyed the whole evening.
