COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The creme-coloured, fine-pored froth forms a nice contrast to the dark red-brown of the beer; the nose detects a robust malt scent with subtle undertones: a slightly caramel touch. A malted sweetness is noted when first sampling. This is quite decently supported by a subtle bitter touch. A full-bodied, well-rounded malt taste remains on the palate.

Pours a dark clear liquid with a good sense of malt and grains. Not a bad finish, be careful when drinking out of the liter steins as they go down smooth and quick without the drinker realizing how much they have downed. A good beer and place to grab some unique brews.

Draft to mug at Hofbrauhaus. Looks decent; a transparent brown. Smells and tastes alright; some malt and hops. Average on the palate. Meh.

On tap at the brewpub. It was Andrew’s, thanks to him for letting me drink half his beer. Clear darker reddish brown color. Good off-white head that lasts, leaves dots of lace. Nice smooth lighter carbonation, dry finish. It’s a good texture and mouthfeel. Very fresh tasting. Good aroma, if a little light. Some dark fruit, toasty malts. Light bitterness. Have to admit, it’s a decent dunkel.

Clear dark amber with a thin tan topper. Aroma of caramel, pale malt and no real hops. Taste is ho-hum with caramel and malt. Easy drinkable and easily forgettable.

Draft in the half liter mug. Pours clear amber with rich beige head and some lacing. Caramel and candy aromas with a hoppy finish. Medium body. Interesting. Oh and burpy.

This is my go-to beer when I’m at hofbrau. It’s beautiful with a rich, dark copper color, with a nice tan head. The aromas are roasty, but sweet. It’s one I can drink all night.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and a hint of roast. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, toffee, hint of roast and roasted nuts. Very smooth and drinkable, good stuff! 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

This is the only beer I’ve honestly had at Newport’s Hofbrauhaus. Why look elsewhere? Perfectly acceptable brew that can be enjoyed the whole evening.
