Light toasted nose, copper-amber color, off-white clingy head. Caramel malt, but with the hint of butterscotch? Naw - can’t be. Toasted malt with a dry woody, oaky end. Medium body. Reserved but classy.

This is my go-to beer when I’m at hofbrau. It’s beautiful with a rich, dark copper color, with a nice tan head. The aromas are roasty, but sweet. It’s one I can drink all night.

This is the only beer I’ve honestly had at Newport’s Hofbrauhaus. Why look elsewhere? Perfectly acceptable brew that can be enjoyed the whole evening.

On tap at Hofbrauhaus Newport, March 2010 (as Hofbrauhaus Newport Dunkel). Not a particularly dark dunkel. Ruddy copper colour. Thin pale beige head. Light caramel aroma. Fairly nutty flavour. Some creamy toffee but not too sweet. Quite decent

Tap at Wunderbar. Poured a clear but dark mahogany with a thin head. A bit sweet up. Nice malty beer with fairly rich and robust flavor. Really drinkable and possibly my favorite German beer.
