Commercial Description:
The creme-coloured, fine-pored froth forms a nice contrast to the dark red-brown of the beer; the nose detects a robust malt scent with subtle undertones: a slightly caramel touch. A malted sweetness is noted when first sampling. This is quite decently supported by a subtle bitter touch. A full-bodied, well-rounded malt taste remains on the palate.

Draft at Newport. Dark amber with chunky head. Flavor and aroma are good for style. Nice beer and very enjoyable! It just got old before I could finish the HUGE dimple mug it came in.

Draft at Lager Haus Tampa: Medium brown pour with frothy, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is mild spices, some banana undertones and heavy molasses, and dark sugars. Flavor is sweet and smooth, easily drinkable with a nice, sweet caramel malt flavor. Very nice.

I usually rush to try the seasonal or the excellent Hefe when I get a liter or a half at the brewpub but you can’t deny that their dunkle is one of the best drafts you can find in the area. Perfect aroma and malt taste make this dark beer a true joy
