COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, flavorful Bock to celebrate the coming of Spring. It's noticeably malty and sweet, with a warming alcohol note.

I like my bock and look forward to the spring in Cincinnati when it use to flow freely from every establishment worth frequenting. This particular Maibock was malty but it didn’t kick me in the head like I would have liked it to. Overall it was drinkable and smooth. But I would have ordered the usual had I wanted smooth. I still look forward to having it this spring again.

Half liter draft - pours caramel with off-white head. Nose is caramel. Flavor adds floral hops. Sweet with a tiny bitterness on the end. Pure and simple. Much better than the Moerlein equivalent I had last night.

Pours a golden amber with an off white head. Caramel aroma with crisp alcoholic notes and a light mouthfeel.

FYI: Rating below mine belongs in the Hofbrau Munchen Maibock category not here. This draft Hofbrau brewed at the Newport, KY brewpub/restaurant is faithful to the original receipe of the home facility in Munchen. Tastes exactly like the bottled variety that is exported from Bavaria, only better, as all fresh draft products are. Very good effort!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a red amber with medium off white head which thins to a ring at the rim. Aroma is all sweet malt. Flavor is more of the same sweet caramel malt through and through with a slight bitterness in the finish. Definitely true to the style, nice and easy drinking.

Draft at Newport, Kentucky Hofbrauhaus. Nondescript aroma, moderate amber color, a vague cheap graininess barely keeps this from being dark colored water with a little alcohol thrown in. That the so called "Hofbrauhaus" is charging a brewpub/craft beer price for this garbage is nothing short of highway robbery. Maybe it was better in years past but for now I would rather drink canned Genesee Bock than this crap--at least the Genesee has some bock attributes. I only went to the "Hofbrauhaus" because that was where a departing co-worker was having his going away party. Note to self: try to steer any future work-related parties to Rock Bottom.

A light amber color. Did not have a dark organish color as others have indicated. Has a medium white head but suprising little carbonation. Has a citrus taste to it that doesn’t disappoint and is suprisingly light. A tinge of alcohol is noticeable at the finish, but overall is a pleasant experience. I could drink this one all night and not notice the almost 8% alcohol by volume.

I’ve not had many bocks, but this has a very rich flavor and a medium to dark appearance. A very good beer, but not quite as good as the Hofrbrauhaus’ Adulterator, or Doppelbock as it is called. This Maibock is typically sold at the Hof in May only, but I was able to get it in Northern Kentucky in the bottle at a Party Source.

Draft at brew pub. Medium amber hue with large light brown rocky head. Light malt aroma. Flavor was a light sweet with an average finish. Medium body with small alcohol bite at finish. Above average for style.

If anything, the greatest disappointment is in appearance. The taste is appropriate for a maibock (as opposed to traditional bocks). Reasonable if unremarkable.
