Tap at Newport. Amber color with medium white head. Good aroma of malt and hops. Flavor was full with hops and sparkle taste. Good finish.

Draught at the brewery. Medium light yellow in color. Lemon, banana and corn esters in the nose. A bit tingling on the tongue, nice and crisp. Lightly syrupy as well. Very strong sweet corn flavor. Overall itís a little above average for lagers, certainly drinkable, and an OK attempt by the brewery at a German helles, but it doesnít knock my socks off.

On tap at Hofbrauhaus Newport, March 2010 (as Premium Lager). Quite pale gold. Very slight haze. Clean and slightly sweet. Pleasant enough if not particularly remarkable. Did the job OK.

This is the flagship beer for Kentucky's Hofbrauhaus. As such it is geared toward the crowds who file in to the biergarten after watching a movie or going to Gameworks. This beer is not going to take any chances. Golden color and effervescent with a medium white head. Light hops and malt aroma. Fizzy and light-bodied, with not much in the way of flavor. It is easy to drink and would do on a hot day in the garten.

Draft. Creamy barley malt and hay aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet creamy barley malt and straw flavor. Solid - has all the characteristics of a great Helles.

Shared some of a friendís half liter at Hofbrauhaus Newport. Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, grain, corn, and light hops. Flavor follows suit. Light bodied, well-balanced, completely unassuming and unpretentious. Crisp, refreshing, and a light malty aftertaste. A nice example of the style if youíre looking for a base to draw from.

At the new Las Vegas outlet, this is brewed in Munich, not Kentucky, but it's the same beer ... the classic Bavarian lager, firmly golden, well bittered and smooth starchy (but good) finish.

On tap at the brewpub in Newport.... Asked for a liter, expected that classic glass mug, got a plastic cup! Itís a bigger plastic cup, but no way it was the same size as the liter, and of course, it was freakiní plastic. They said something about not doing glasses anymore on the weekends for the outside area, what the hell? As much as I wanted to rag on this beer, I have to admit itís decent stuff, albeit way overpriced, at $8.75. Probably a clearish amber gold color, good creamy white head leaving good sheety lace. Very nice lighter and smooth and crisp carbonation, dry finishg, good light hops through the finish. Straw, white bread aroma. Like a typical higher-quality premium lager.
