Enjoyed at the brewery in a one liter stein. The beer pours a deep brown to just a touch lighter than black with an off-white head that lasts several minutes. The aroma was a bit of a disappointment, giving hints of chocolate and malt, but showing far too little of the beer’s qualities. The palate was clean, full, and fairly complex; moving back and forth between caramel notes and more coffee-like ones. Overall, not life-changing, but a decent, if simple, lager.
