06/03 Draught at Lindenbrau am Potsdammerplatz, Berlin. It poured clear darker brown body with smaller brownish head. Aroma is very weak, some slight caramel and maybe burned sugar. Caramel, coffee and biscuity, beer is not sweet at all rather balanced with that roasted malt, reminding to altbiers. Slightly watery, but still has decent body. Long, but weak bittersweet finish. Didn’t like it particularly, but it has its own character.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2012
International Green Week, Berlin 2012: Hall 12, the hall dedicated to German breweries and food to go with beer. We find a table and seats by the Andechs bar, leave the womenfolk to keep the area safe and we blokes start to forage for beers. Loads of breweries and beers to choose from I choose to try the Pilsner from this brewery, I enjoyed it, so went back and got the Dunkel, also on tap. 0.3 litre glass: Murky brown/copper body, good off-white foaming head that stayed the distance. Malty nose and taste: caramel and nutty toffee type taste, but not overly sweet, smooth but not sickly or rich in the mouth. I tried to have a different style of beer (Landbier/Dunkel/Bock/etc) between each Pilsner during the mega drinking day this was reviewed on; using the Pilsners as mouthwash really: still reviewed them though! Pleasant and easy to drink without setting the world alight.

Draught at "Hopfingerbräu im Palais" - Berlin.
Dark amber color, good bubbly aspect, nice and resistant head of good duration. Little alcoholic notes, burned wood, malty, cask. Round and prickly taste, much balanced and with a good hardness bitter final content.

At Lindenbräu, Sony Center, Berlin. Cloudy copper with a lasting off-white head. Bready malt aroma with lots of toffee and caramel. Sweetish, rich malty flavour with a touch of raw wort and a bit of diacetyl

Sample glass @ Hopfingerbräu am Palais near Brandenburger Tor, Berlin. Near-murky nut brown body, medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is nuts, dark malts and hints of caramel. Taste is dark malts, nuts, honey and hints of burnt toast. Smooth palate. An OK dunkel, albeit a bit mild for my tastes.

Palme (1440) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 29, 2011
Tap @ Lindenbräu Bar, Berlin. Pours a unclear dark brown body with a red-hue and a two-fingersized everlasting off-white head. Quite malty nose with hints of sweet red apple, plums and yeast. Low carbonation medium bodied. Nicely balanced dunkel, good caramel-sweetness combined with a nice bitterness. Ends in a sweet lasting finish. Quite liked this.

Draught from Zum Schneider. Pours a pretty shiny brown with a small head. Very chocolatey for a dunkel.
