(bottle, the writing of “Alt Pahreser” is printed in tiny letters above “Dunkel”) Clear, dark amber colour with a reddish shine and a beige, medium-sized foamy head. Sslightly sweet and toasted malty aroma with a touch of caramel, chestnuts and a light herbal, slightly spicy hoppy note. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a well-carbonated, slightly crispy carbonation. Toasted malty and slightly nutty taste with light notes of caramel and traces of chocolate; moderately dry and shy bitter hoppy finish with a subtle fruity touch. Likeable Dunkel (10.VI.09).

From tap at Zeitgeist. Pours dark brown with a small diminished head. Spiced and roasted malty aroma. Acidic to citrc flavour. Sadly infected. Ends mild roasted and acidic to citric.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Very zippy. Tastes malty and fresh, a little smoky. Very drinkable. Good beer!

Tap, Schmidtbräu Neuhaus. Malty, caramelly sweet flavor. Caramel aftertaste with Buisman and chichory. Slight caramelaroma. Rural beer.

Bottle. Brown, red with a large cream foam. Aromas are sweet and malty with toffee and wheat. Also some smooth milk chocolate with fruit. Flavours are malty and sweet without being cloying. Slightly bready and yeasty with some light berries. A decent malty brew.

500ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. A chocolate flavoured yet quite light beer. Pleasant enough and quite drinkable though with little character or interest. I’d have it again and enjoy it, but I wouldn’t suggest someone try it.

Bottled. A mahogony brown coloured beer with a short lived off-white head. The aroma is a little nutty. Dry with some fruity malts. The taste is fairly fruity with raisins and brown bread. None of the flavours are particularly well pronounced and it’s a pretty average dunkel.

Bottled - comes as Hofmann Dunkel. An amber beer with a thick light brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel, as well as light hoppy notes. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and the body is a bit thin. A bit boring.

(Bottle 50 cl) In my version simply called "Hofmann Dunkel". Clear, dark amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Soft aroma of lightly roasted malt. Medium body with pleasant flavours of lightly sweet, roasted malt. Vague, caramelish accents. Dry - but not overly bitter - finish. 040307

Bouteille, landbierparadies, voyage Europe 2005
