I received various craft beers from a beer retailer that promotes a ’kick ass’ world tour of beers every year for the establishments he is responsible for. Sometimes I drink these gifts right away, while at other times i save them for a special occasion. As I was sitting at home on Jan. 1st I decide to check downstairs refrig for a beer. I was surprised to find a bottle of Hofmark Pils that I must have forgotten about. I don’t know old it was, but to my surprise it turned out to be a great beer. I’d rate it right up there with the grandaddy of pilsners, Pilsner Urquell.

I do not normally enjoy Pilsner beers. This beer was really good. I am glad I had a chance to try it.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2003 Re-rate: Since I got this from a beer club, it was very fresh. I then ordered more and it was a few months later. This beer degrades a whole lot with age. If you can get this fresh, you don't know what you are missing. However, this is my favorite Pilsner on Earth. I can honestly say that, therefore gving it a damn near perfect rating. I received this from a beer club and sure wish I could get more. Great bite with sweet, sugary flavors and a great hop and malt accent and creamy head. A fuller bodies pils. Kind of sticky to the mouth. Blessed be those Germans! These guys really know how to do things.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2003 i was in cham yesterday and drank the entire hofmark pils range at the stadt kneipe. the wurzig herb was impossibly fresh and had ridiculously full grainy, freshly mown lawn aroma. certainly blander than the herb and the standard pils. still has that wonderful melt-in-the-mouth texture but lacks a little in the finish. was the pils of choice with all the guys with moustaches listening to the bundesliga

My favorite pilsner to date. I usually dont like them either. This beer was so mild and refreshing that it went down in a few minutes. Smooth, complex, and balanced. First rate beer.

Decent German pils. Nice thick body with a minimal head. Had a nice sweet malt bite and earthy/spicy hop bite. Didn’t blow me away but it was a good brew.

Looks like you just beat me to this one Joe. I’ll take the rest of yours if you don’t like them. Excellent German pilsner, brewed close to Czech border. Impressive golden color, although head is short-lived. Nice malt balances out dry hoppy finish. Just in time for summer.

Clean and fresh with a nice malt nose and some hop presence. It’s everthing a German Pilsner should be. ABV 6.0, quite a refresing beer, but I still like the ’Dark Beers’ best. Lager fans will enjoy.
