3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a decent doppel with a rich malt character. It is pours a ruddy red brown and is nearly headless. It’s noise is of carmalized sugar and raisin. A touch of sweetness brings out a chocolate note and, along with a bit of tartness, it also emphasizes a plummy fruitiness. As it warms, the sweetness does cloy a bit though and make the initially creamy mouth feel turn sticky and heavy. Still, I think most lovers of the style will find much to like here. While it does not quite match the finesse of the best doppelbocks, the basic elements are all there.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from AmmersinO, Vienna. Dark brown body, with medium, creamy, beige head, that dissipates quickly. Delicious, complex aroma of almond, plum, raisin, ripe banana, caramel, chocolate, some roast. Tastes of chocolate, dark dried fruits, almond, banana, nuts. Mouthfeel is medium, creamy, with a good carbonation and it finishes alcohol warming and sweet, with dark dried fruits and almond. Great! Unique, complex and also quaffable dark bock beer, that interestingly tastes like somewhere inbetween a Doppelbock and a Belgian dark strong ale.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Tap. Complex fruity sugars, berries, nice aromatics in rlthe finish. Medium body, creamy, light sparkly. Nicely balanced, light, approachable. Need to try this head to head with the Andechs Doppelbock., not sure the granite ads extra complexity compared.

A 750 ml swing-top bottle (year 2011) from Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. A dark brown beer with moderate whitish head. Fruity and malty impressions on the nose. Delicately and pleasantly fruity and malted on the tongue. A delightful bock!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a deep red-hued rusty brown body with a small creamy off-white head. Nose is dried fruits, unripe banana, raisins, figs and hints of grainy caramel. Taste is burnt sugar, raisins, bread crust and hints of dusty grains and caramel. Medium body and carbonation. There is something I can’t put my finger on in this beer, which kinda puts it apart from most bocks...oh well, in either case: I quite like it.
