Hoganís Dry Bottled Cider is a deep gold, slightly sparkling, dry cider with a fruity aroma of traditional bitter sweet apple with spice and peaty overtones.
Hoganís Bottled Cider is fermented from only 100% fresh pressed English cider apples. Our cider tastes so good because we do not use apple concentrate and we do not add any sugars prior to fermentation. Containing more than 85% cider apple juice our premium bottled cider is made only from fresh pressed cider fruit and precious little else. Hoganís bottled cider brings you the authentic taste of the English orchard.

Bottle. Itís a clear, golden cider, still and with some white bubbles on top. Apple cores dominates the aroma, with some fresh apples, apple pie and a faint hint of caramel. Itís medium bodied and dry-ish, with a pleasant carbonation. Toffee hints, a yeasty, sulphury note and apples in the flavor, with the apples and toffee notes lasting for a good while. A quite pleasant cider, but sort of ordinary. 150325

Bottle. Pours golden with an off-white head. Aroma of green and red apples, some apple peel, fruitiness and sulfur. Flavor is sweet and fruity with some sulfur, apple peel , some caramel and red apples. Medium body, average carbonation.

Translucent and radiant sunny gold in colour and stilla side a few stray bubbles rising to atmosphere. Nose hints at pear and honeydew with a floral, earthy background similar to lavender, bay leaves and saw dust. Dry and parching on the palate. Earthy with plenty of farmhouse funk like chaff, soil, wood, tart, bitter berries, green, leafy herbs. Light bite on the swallow. There is definitely something bitter about this one. Very lean in body; almost watery safely showing enough character to not be a thin waste. The apple is there but held at bay nicely by the funk and junk. Drinkable but so, so dry I needed a pint of bitter for a chaser. Strange! (50cL, L3059A, Luckies Liquor)

Pours apple juice gold. Aroma is pimento olives, vermouth, BANDAIDSģ, mild apple aroma. Taste is herbaceous white wine with strong olive / vermouth / medicinal notes. Dry finish. The slightest taste of apple skins (maybe). Interesting but mostly unappealing (yes, I spared you from an arrangement of terrible puns here).

Bottle. Pours golden. Aroma is apples, fruity, dry. Taste the same. Really easy to drink for a dry cider. I liked it.

Golden honey color with a very breif small white head. The aroma is medicinal, no real hint of apple. The taste is really strange - Phenol, very strong - hints of watered down apple, a bit like watered down apple flavored lysol. One taste is all I could handle. I can only assume something went wrong with their bottle washing. I canít believe itís supposed to taste like this.

500ml bottle from Redmonds of Ranelagh 5.8%. pours red golden with a slight carbonation dissipating to being completely flat. He aroma is tart and musty with an aroma of dry apples. There is a slight carbonation on tasting which gives it a lift, a taste of dry apples with no sweetness and a very dry dead finish. It certainly does what it says by being dry but I think they could have done more to make it more appealing.

500 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Golden-light honey colour; Near zero head and residual white foam which fades in 5 seconds; No lacing with quite notable, slow-rising carbonation; Strong tart and sweet aroma of apple wine and juice, with musty cellar, yoghurt, sugar, light alcohol, barrel and tannic; Very faint sweet and tart taste of very thin apple wine, with soda water, strong mustyness, alcohol, light tannic and hint of yoghurt; Light body. Watery palate; Mouth feel is quite boozy cider de-appled: very faint apple juice or wine element remained, but strong mustiness and booze verging on band-aid but not quite, a hint of medicine to the mouth. Not uncomfortable but just overall itís void and weird. Low youghurt and tannic, not really dry at all. HmmÖ Slightly dry after taste, Soda-ry and thin to mouth.

Comments: The biggest drawback of this one is the price for having stronger booze and supposedly drier taste is to do away more than 95% of apple character. The result is very un-cider-like, too thin and water-ish, too musty and chemical. And itís not dry, just not good at all. Avoid!
