0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Golden honey color with a very breif small white head. The aroma is medicinal, no real hint of apple. The taste is really strange - Phenol, very strong - hints of watered down apple, a bit like watered down apple flavored lysol. One taste is all I could handle. I can only assume something went wrong with their bottle washing. I canít believe itís supposed to taste like this.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
500ml bottle from Redmonds of Ranelagh 5.8%. pours red golden with a slight carbonation dissipating to being completely flat. He aroma is tart and musty with an aroma of dry apples. There is a slight carbonation on tasting which gives it a lift, a taste of dry apples with no sweetness and a very dry dead finish. It certainly does what it says by being dry but I think they could have done more to make it more appealing.

1.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
500 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Golden-light honey colour; Near zero head and residual white foam which fades in 5 seconds; No lacing with quite notable, slow-rising carbonation; Strong tart and sweet aroma of apple wine and juice, with musty cellar, yoghurt, sugar, light alcohol, barrel and tannic; Very faint sweet and tart taste of very thin apple wine, with soda water, strong mustyness, alcohol, light tannic and hint of yoghurt; Light body. Watery palate; Mouth feel is quite boozy cider de-appled: very faint apple juice or wine element remained, but strong mustiness and booze verging on band-aid but not quite, a hint of medicine to the mouth. Not uncomfortable but just overall itís void and weird. Low youghurt and tannic, not really dry at all. HmmÖ Slightly dry after taste, Soda-ry and thin to mouth.
Comments: The biggest drawback of this one is the price for having stronger booze and supposedly drier taste is to do away more than 95% of apple character. The result is very un-cider-like, too thin and water-ish, too musty and chemical. And itís not dry, just not good at all. Avoid!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle. Clear yellow golden colour, foamy white head which slowly dissipates away and aroma of apple, barnyard, oaky vanilla, leather. Taste is dry sourish apple, light barnyard, woody oak with vanilla, rubber & leathery notes. Slightly oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry light tannic tangy finish. Quite drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500ml bottle. Pours a clear deep gold. Tart apple, dusty tannins, leather and struck flint, with some citrus leaf notes make up the aroma. Tart, bittersharp apple up front leads into leather and serious tannic grip in the mid-palate. A little hint of apple sweetness leads into the finish, which is tart and cleansing. This is a serious dry cider, about as far from commercial lolly-water as cider can get. It is very reminiscent of Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon, and thatís about the highest praise that can be given to a cider.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from shelf.
Pours golden with a quick rise and fall of the head, itís got plenty of bubbles on the side of the glass with only a few tiny ones rising.
The aroma is beautiful, limestone, hay and horsebarn. The apple character is there but itís actually surprisingly light.
The flavor is tart and earthy, even minerally at points. Itís defiantly got some apple, but there is a lot more apple-skin flavor and the apple flesh flavor is pretty subdued. Iíve had apple skin forward ciders before, in my meager experience this one seems to be pretty low on bitterness for this type of flavor profile. Itís dry, not bracingly so... but there is not much sweetness in there either.
Maybe I donít "get" English Ciders because I keep being really impressed by these ones that are rated really low. Maybe ratebeer doesnít "get" English Ciders... either way Iím glad Iím not buying these by the Ratebeer score, because Iíd be missing out on a whole bunch of really enjoyable cider.

50cl bottle I picked up at Perfect Pour. Pours a deep honey gold with a ring of white head. Aroma is earthy, honey comb, tart apple, apple skin, a little candy. Flavor is sweet, sweet and tart apple, a little yeast, earthy, juicy but not sticky. Clean, dry finish.
