I have fallen in love with this brewery’s stronger beers. I love them. Very dark brown and ruby with thin beige head. Chocolate malt is wonderful, somewhat milky with dry malt and more milkiness on end. Alcohol keeps it interesting. It’s like drinking 70% dark chocolate with a glass of full fat milk. Nice but not wonderful. 3.8/5.0
Re-rate Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate Summer BF 08. Lovely. Dates, choc, molasses, treacle, but not syrupy, still dryish. Bit of spice, nutmeg. Smooth, not harsh. A kind of treacle sponge cake with nutmeg. Fantastic. I love this.

A strong dark beer ideal for winter, it really does warm you as you drink it but it’s strength is not transferred into the taste. It has a strong coffee taste with hints of caramel and a slight bitterness but generally smooth. There is a smoked malt and coffee aroma, with only a small head it is a still a brilliant beer from Hogs Back!

Clear dark ruby, dark brown with small light brown lacing foam glass. Aroma is light coffee, some barley, some grass. Taste is coffee taste. Fresh taste. (Velp 201303)

Almost black but transperant like darker cola, no head. Aroma of caramel, licorice, roasted malt, plums jam. Taste is light , light bitter quite good balance. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Interesting and nice.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a thin white head, rich malty aroma with some winter fruit, the taste is bitter with fruit with a short dry finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head that disappeared very quickly. Aroma is smoke, spices, bananas. Flavor is very malty, with bananas and a bit roasty.

Bottle@home, 500ml. Head: beige foam, shrinking fast. Colour: clear dark brown. Aroma: hops, roasted malt. Taste: hops, bitter-sweet. Palate: dry, medium bitter-sweet finish, low CO2. Overall: very nice.

500ml bottle. Pours almost black with caramel coloured head. Smells of coffee, chocolate and figs. Barely any carbonation. Tastes slightly of coffee and chocolate. Bitter and sweet.

50cl bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Very dark brown, almost black color, small to medium sized beige to light brown head. Smell malts, leaves, raisin, plums. Taste malts, plums, raisins, lightly bitter. Long fruity and lightly bitter finish. Medium body, medium carbo.

Bottle @ home. Quite black, some redness shining through, head quickly gone. Smells sirup, sweet, malts, plum. Tastes coffee, malts, sweetish, slightly roasty, some chocolate. Low carbo, quite a full body for its abv.

Bottled, nice work by mowbeer lugging this back for pivni rozmanitost in Prague. Reddish brown with a thin, frothy head; aroma of rusty tea and stewed red berries; some molasses and rye and a long, lightly bitter finish. Good example of a winter warmer
