COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Chritmas. Year round bottle conditioned.
First brewed shortly after the foundation of the brewery, OTT is a very rich, dark ale. We use 4 different malt styles - pale, crystal, chocolate and malted wheat - each of which has a unique character. Local Fuggles hops added at various stages during the boil enhances the beer’s depth. Old Tongham Tasty is named after the village where we brew in a farm on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Its complexity drinks ’like a festival of different tastes on the tongue’ - at least that’s how it was described after a lengthy sampling session.

Medium brown head. Barely translucent dark red body. Fruity mealy roasty aroma with earthy metallic notes. Dry-sweetish earthy wild berry taste with roasty chocolatey notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish soy and roasty malts aftertaste with chocolatey herbal notes. very nice. Like a craft beer, but beautifully balanced. (0.5l bottle, RealAle.com.)

Pours black with a small tan head. Nose shows chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, prunes, golden syrup, brown sugar and bready malt. Pretty nice stuff. Similar flavours with lots more roasted malt, chocolate, golden syrup and sweet, sugary dried fruit. A bit cloying, and there’s an off-putting chalky/doughy note. Body feels a little watery.

500ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, dark brown, thin beige head. Aromas are mostly roasted malt, chocolate, spices, some hops, yeast. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, roasted, spicy taste, lots of chocolate and spices, cinnamon, hops, earth, faint smoke, against a solid malt and alcohol backbone. Not bad. (2011-11-19)

Bottle. Dark brown, small to average and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma with some caramel and some roasted malt, vinous fruitiness with dark fruits, light chocolate and licorice. Malty body is medium, sweetish with fruitiness - dark fruits, some caramel and light roasted malt, light chocolate. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish with some fruitiness - dark fruits, light roasted malt. Strong ale with vinous fruitiness and some roastiness - could be dried, though.

Bottled, 500ml a present from Sandra. Brown with short lasting pale brown head. Quite a sweet, wine like, fruity beer, full on the palate, quite heavy with a light chocolate roastiness in the background. The larger bottle is overdoing it a bit, but not bad.
