I was feeling festive so thought I’d open this. Less than 100 days until Christmas and was feeling a little disappointed that the adverts haven’t started yet. Holidays are coming and all that. Can’t say this made me feel any more Christmassy but it did give me an afternoon wobble. Pleasant enough, strong aftertaste, quite sweet. Right, I’m off to buy my tree.

Bottled, 275ml a Christmas gift from Sandra. Reddy amber with no head. Full, fruity, viney beer, smooth and blackberry flavour, some peatiness in the background. The hops have been overtaken by the alcohol but all in all fairly decent.

More rich fruit on the palate. Plums and prunes. Slightly woody. Rich and complex mouthfeel. A warming and satisfying strong ale.
