A slightly sweet winter style stout, with hints of treacle and a roasted mocha taste with a subtle hop aroma. The finish leaves you with a gentle bitterness and a hoppy flavour on the palate.

cask gravity in The Rack of Ale Dover. Clear dark brown colour. Thin tan bubbly head. Funnily enough I liked this. Chocolate and port aroma. Decent condition. Some hop. Good.

Bottled 17/09/14. A dark ruby coloured beer with a white head and a little lace. Quite fruity and sweet. More old ale or mild territory in my book. Late bitterness but no roast. Quite pleasant and does grow on you.

Bottle from the Wine Rack, Burpham shared at Jack and Leightons birthday pleasantries, 13/04/13. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose is dark malt, toffee, dark fruits. Taste is light roast malt, cardboard, papery, dark fruit, dates. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry in the finish. Pretty mediocre.

Bottle shared by Colin at Leighton & Jack’s birthday fun-time. It pours dark red-brown with a small-medium beige head. The nose is light roasted malt, toast, cocoa and earth. The taste is about the same...mellow roast, toast, cocoa, earth...not much else. Finishes up dry. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Very so-so.

50cl bottle shared by Colin at CBC Clerkenwell. This was quite bad. Not sure if it’s just the beer being bland a bit unpleasant or the bottle that was a bad one. Either way, poor stout character in this one, quite bland with some off-flavours.

Cask @ Nags Head. Deep ruby colour, slightly roasty aroma. Forest fruits, faint toast, residual sweetness balanced with light hop bitterness. Maybe a little thinner than I expected, though. Very drinkable.
