Bottle shared by Colin at Leighton & Jack’s birthday fun-time. It pours dark red-brown with a small-medium beige head. The nose is light roasted malt, toast, cocoa and earth. The taste is about the same...mellow roast, toast, cocoa, earth...not much else. Finishes up dry. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Very so-so.

50cl bottle shared by Colin at CBC Clerkenwell. This was quite bad. Not sure if it’s just the beer being bland a bit unpleasant or the bottle that was a bad one. Either way, poor stout character in this one, quite bland with some off-flavours.

Cask @ Nags Head. Deep ruby colour, slightly roasty aroma. Forest fruits, faint toast, residual sweetness balanced with light hop bitterness. Maybe a little thinner than I expected, though. Very drinkable.

50cl bottle from Waitrose, Wokingham. Mahogany with a ring of cream head and a reddish glow; rich mocha aroma; thin with a dry toasty malt taste that develops some coffee before a sweeter treacly finish. Rather good.
