A traditional English bitter from a 50cl bottle. It has great clarity, indicating that it a filtered ale. The colour is amber with a cream coloured foamy head which disperses quickly. The aromas are of malts and leaves. There is a taste of well-hopped bitterness, balanced with a soft bread-like maltiness. Light, but not watery. A very pleasant bitter with high drinkability.

It is 8 years ago that I last had a bottle of this. Anyway, today it is on cask. Hazy orange, small white head. Body is light, slightly foamy. Taste is very soft malt character, a touch metallic in the finish.

Bottle from Tesco in Eastbourne. Pours out in an amber colour with low head and flat body. Aroma of hops and leaves. Taste of bitter hops, malt, barley, bread, citrus and flowers. Bitter-dry finish. Drinkable but not that nice.

Bought in Tesco, Eastbourne and shared with McTapps. Had high hopes in but got really disappointed as this one comes quite unnaturally sour with a crazy aftertaste which reminds me of puking. Beside this it might be a bit malty and bitter but that aroma and aftertaste killed any nice moments I had so far.

Pours a nice clear amber body with a minimal white head. Nose has surprisingly strong coffee and chokolate notes accompanied by herbs and some caramel. Taste is sweet at first and nicely balanced by a hoppy bitterness, the finish is mildly bitter. Carbonation is fairly soft and the mouthfeel is a little watery but quite nice with the low ABV. This is quite nice, a good simple session ale the english way.

Bottle. Pours amber, a bit cloudy, a foamy one finger head which diminishes. Aroma- lots of toffee, hops, pine notes. Taste is hoppy, plenty of bitterness, grassy, malty, caramel in the finish. Pretty good.

Cask at JDW, Stteatham, Pours a dark reddy amber with an off white head. Aroma has a bread maltiness with a hint of dark fruit. Light to medium body, a little thin, light carbonation. Light toffee, lemon, wood, leaves, apple, a little red berry stuff... Pretty dull all in all. Fine.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2014 Really excellent. Can see and taste why it has won awards. Nice caramel taste and fruity flavours. Beautiful ruby colour. Wish I had this on tap at home.
