2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle is infected. Was a gusher when poured. Has 7/8 of the glass in head. A DMS rotten egg note overpowers the big hops and malt I know this beer has from previous experience with it, including at the tap room at the brewery. It still tastes reasonably good but has a papery oxidization that threatens to take over everything. Too bad I normally like this beer.

12oz bottle - served in a pint glass. Decent enough local IPA, nothing special. Reasonably balanced.

Bottle. Pours an amber colour. Lots of head that takes a while to go down. Nose has grassy notes. Very crisp and dry finish with a bitter aftertaste.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A dark malty ale with roasty toffee notes along with a good hop bitterness bite. every time ive poured there is a massive white head that takes a while to . I’ve had a few of these and they have grown on me with each one I have had the more I enjoy these. Nice to have some craft brew in the local area.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 7.5%. Clear golden amber pour with a weak, white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong with hoppy overtones, grapefruit, citrusy, toasted malt. Taste is more of the same, dry hops and roast malts dominating the flavour, with a hint of sweetness. Finish is dry, but balanced and satisfying. Delicious. Glad to see craft beer being produced in my hometown.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at pour house and comes out with a hazy copper colour with a small white head that leaves a small amount of lace up the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, caramelized sugar, toasty, some roasted malts, and a tropical fruit/citrus/pine mixture. Flavour is grapefruit, resin, caramel, bready and toasted malts. A nice malty ipa!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hop Slayer pours a rather dark burgundian amber with a thick frothed up creamy yellowish beige head. Tons of massive lacing splotches and rings form along the glass as the massive head calms down. Overall, this looks like a rather malty IPA. The aroma has a caramelized and toasted malt aroma with light roasted notes and a moderate grapefruit and lemony citric hop nose. A rather smooth sip up front with a rather heavy roast for and IPA with noted toasty and toffee malts. Light grapefruit hop flavours with mild resinous and pine needle notes.

Draft - Resin and a bit of pine. Dark cloudy amber with a thin head. Light pine and resin again, bitter in the finish. Nice on the palate but a little bland.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance is dark and cloudy with a bit of sediment leaping into my tulip. Looks good though. Aroma indicates the color is due to a substantial malt base as the caramel and malty base is very present in the nose. Hop aroma is a bit fruity but not as assertive as I was guessing it would be. Taste is caramel and medium malts with some decent hop character. There is a significant amount of bitterness which really hits the spot for me at the time. A pretty solid IPA and a valiant effort for a new brewery in Alberta. Keep it up!
As a sidenote, the packaging and bottling seems pretty sloppy. There is label paste all over the bottle and all 6 bottles are sticky. Not sure what happened but it reminds me of when I overflow my homebrew bottles and don’t wipe the beer off the sides. Could be a spill in distribution
