COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruby red amber colour rests below a full, creamy white head. A fairly faint aroma hints on sweetness. The mouth feel is nice, creamy, thick & smooth. Heavy malt sweetness with a very nice hoppy brightness on top. Surprising hints of caramel with an essence of vanilla. This is a beautiful looking and tasting beer.

Some candied malt. Pours reddish brown without much head or lacing. Finishes with some candy and a little booze. Aroma has some scotch whiskey. Tap at Black Tomato.

On tap at brewers market. Mohagany with a beige head. Semi roasted and sweet malt, plums, caramel, yet mild. Sweet, moderate carbonation, mild+ body, easy to drink but I would want too much.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2013 On tap @ Navarra, Ottawa. Deep golden amber, 1/2finger thick creamy white cap. Sweet burnt sugary malts dominate, sponge toffee, light buttercream, maple syrup. This is very tasty, but very sweet. One pint was enough, but enjoyable.

Sampled at the GCBF 2013. Wow a Scotch ale not called Kilt Lifter. Pours dark amber, nose is crystal malt and a bit of citrus, flavour is crystal, smooth mouthfeel. Tasted like an amber to me, maybe some smoke in the finish, could have been psychosomatic.

Enjoyed at the National Capital Craft Beer Week. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a small head. Fruity nose with raisins, plum and caramel. Refreshing wet mouthfeel. Fruity malt taste with oranges and plums. An overall decent fruity scotch ale.

On tap at C’est What. Taps a clean ruby-amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is full of crystal and caramalts, not much else. Flavour has an awesome malt body, with a thick satisfying character. Lingering notes of malty complexity, and not much hop activity to speak of although there is somewhat of an earthy undertone. Body is medium with OK carbonation. Really enjoyed this one and would drink again.

On tap at the Only Cafe. Pours a clear dark orange brown with small off-white head. Aroma is caramel/toffee-ish malt. Flavour is very malty with a lightly roasty caramel/toffee. Nothing special.

Pours a dark, dirty brown with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel, sweet dark malts. Taste has a sharp caramel sweetness and a small kick of alcohol. Small roastiness and moderate bitterness. Impressed.

I tried this beer on tap on June 1, 2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent copper colour with a thin foamy medium brown head that lasted. Certainly far from the white head mentioned on the website. The aroma was sweet malt, caramel, vanilla and some floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, caramel, molasses, some yeasty notes, and a bitter finish. I enjoyed all but the aftertaste.

Pint at The Cheshire Cat. 13MA12.

App.: Clear copper with a small white head. Aroma: Rich, fruity, slightly pungent malt, toffee/treacle, maybe a touch of smoke, a little earthy. Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Slightly earthy, British-style malts with some lightly metallic fruitiness, a touch of smoke, hints of esters; dry with gentle bitterness and a sorta earthy malt finish.

Meh.
