Cask. Amber-red, vibrant colour slight haze. This had a sparkler but it looked awesome. The fresh ekg dry hops are very evident. Soft body, maybe a bit slick but with a touch of cask acidity . Hit of caramel, getting into toffee. Earthy hop character. Increases in complexity as it goes.

Cask with saaz hops at brewery. Lighter version of ESB. Lots of flavor to this beer and very sessionable.

Clear dark copper with a thin foamy head. Rich "English" nose of mineral water, toffee and a slight bit of caramel. The flavor is pretty mild and light with a bittersweet body, with tones of metallic toffee, some mild bitterness, and a dry biscuity finish.

Cask at the brewery, on October 10, 2012
Hazy brown color, tan head. Smooth, hoppy, floral, citrus taste. Citrus, hoppy aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Fruity, citrus scent.

Draft. Deep amber body with an off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of biscuit, caramel, toasted malts, citrus. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Caramel taste on top of bread and mustiness. Neither the aroma nor flavor are overly strong, but there’s a good balance between malt and hop with a light lingering bitterness. Tasty for a 4% session beer. Reminded me of a lighter version of their chin wag esb.

Pour on tap at the brewery, cask pour with Delta hops. Nice dark orange pour with fluffy white slightly eggshell white head, how can you say a cask beer looks bad? Aroma had nice caramel, musty earth, hints of a biscuit and rich bready malts, slight hint of DMS but it didn’t detract too much. Taste had a bit more of the DMS which wasn’t bad for the style, but its not a flavor I enjoy, though I know it’s sought after in this style, so I didn’t dock it. Nice musty earth, caramel, toffee, bread some yeast and spicy tones, slight grassy hops. Pretty nice.

Keg and cask pours at brewery. Fairly clear, dark burnt orange appearance with a tan head. Mild citrus, rich caramel, grassy, earthy aroma. Fairly biscuity, rich caramel, mild toffee, toasty malty, light orange citrusy flavor. Flavors seem a bit more present and rich in the cask version (which was dry hopped with goldings). Nice stuff.

On cask at Hogshead poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, bread, light earthiness and light fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, bread, light earthiness and a hint of fruittiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish.

Cask at the brewery - pours a clear amber with a thick orange head. Scent of citrus peel (Fuggles and Challenger hops), earthy caramel malt. Creamy and a little sweet initially, with biscuity malts and round citrus and earthy hop flavor. Well balanced, mellow and pleasant to drink. Finishes dry with lingering hop bitterness.

Cask at the brewery - not sure of the hops used in this firkin, but the flavor profile seems like a mix of British and German noble - the beer is very dry, but with a doughiness the the body that adds some heft and a light estery note - for the most part, the malts are biscuity and semi dry - the hops add a complex fruitiness - a touch of dry minerals throughout - hints of damp earthiness and wood - very nice, indeed.
