COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It has a forward flavor of roasted malt, (crystal chocolate and brown) leading the way with hints of coffee chocolate and roasted nut. Finishes with astringent roasted malt combined with the earthy character of the single addition Fuggles hop in a semi-dry smooth finish.

Flavor is tons of chocolate, graham cracker, and roasted malt. Some coffee notes, moderate sweetness, toasted nuts, and a light hoppiness. Solid overall.

On tap at Hogshead. Dark brown with a light tan head. The aroma and flavor is roasted malts, coffee, spices, light coffee and dark fruit. Lighter body for a porter, creamy feel with a dry earthy finish.

Half pint draft at Hogshead in Denver, Colorado. The pour is a deep brown burgundy with a 1/2 inch tan head. Head leaves nice lacing. The aroma is lightly sweet dark chocolate, a hint of roast, and a soft bready malt. Engaging nose. The taste is the malt sweet notes initially, dark chocolate, toffee, bread, then turns to the subtle natural, well integrated roast. The palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation and a clean slightly roasty finish. Well done Porter, very drinkable. Would have loved to try this on cask.

On Tap at Denver Winter Brew Fest ’13. Pour is deep brown/mahogany with a small tan head; decent lacing. Roast, cocoa, graham crackers, marshmallows, rye, a touch of dark fruits, herbal, and light spice in the aroma. Taste is chocolate, dark roast, good spice notes - cinnamon, anise, nutmeg - a touch of grass and coffee. Medium body with medium-to-soft carbonation. Well-balanced porter full of wonderful chocolate and roast notes. Delicious!

On cask at the brewery, tasted a friend’s pint and immediately ordered one. Dark black, expected head. Smell is robust, malts, coffee, chocolate, roast. Flavor is very robust porter: coffee, chocolate, malts. It literally coats the tongue and you can taste it lingering in your mouth. Great stuff especially if you like porters. I dare say this might be the best porter in Colorado. Serving type: cask Reviewed on: 08-26-2012 01:55:09
