Chalk board at the brewery said 9.8%. Traditional English style barley wine, but what else would you expect from these guys? Dark amber with some magenta color, zero head or lacing. Toffee and earthy caramel malts. Slightly thin palate. Nose is a little hot, but not too apparent in taste. Would love to age this, but great now.

Smells like a cross between a barleywine and a quad. Looks nice, a bit dark for the style with a sticky off white head. The taste is sweet, the palate is thick. Extra drinkable because it doesn't have the sharp hop kick or the alcohol burn of many other barleywines I have tried.

Pours syrupy unclear murky amber with a whitish head. Aroma brings sweet malts, not resin but more with birch earthiness. Flavor bring similar notes, birch, sweet and earthy malts, and smooth bitterness.

On tap at the brewery, 2012 version. Deep reddish brown with a dissipating tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma of fruity esters, caramel, sweet malts, light bitter hops, vanilla, toffee and dark fruits. Similar flavor with a pretty full body. An excellent English-style barley wine. A nice sipper.

Snifter at Hogshead. Rich and huge nose of caramel, vanilla, and booze. Very full and rich, lots of toffee and caramel. Finishes clean and sweet. I wish they would bottle so I could see how it would age.
