A dark amber beer with a thin light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of caramel, but also a slight acidity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel. I find it slightly boring.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 stouby (2893) - Holbæk, DENMARK - NOV 11, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2005 Draght, at No. 5.
Brown with light brown creamy head, mostly diminishing, no lacings. Unfiltered. Aroma moderate malty, light hoppy (notes of brown sugar, orange, licorice). Flavor moderate sweet, light bitter. Light to medium body, watery, flat carbonated. It misses bite, e.g. more hops or/and carbonation.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (23023) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 27, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 (On tap) Unclear dark brown with an orange glow. Delicate, creamy, fine structured, beige head - almost Guinness-like and velvety. Unfortunately it collapses rather fast. Very fruity aroma with some refined esters of almonds and marzipan. Very soft body with notes of citrus - mandarin - but at the same time a warmer, more christmasy flavour structure of dried fruits and honey. Lightly vinous finish almost without any bitterness. You also get a glimpse of some burned notes from the dark malt. The warming alcohol is present, but yet deceptively well hidden. A bit low in carbonation, but the brewer promises, that this will be fixed. A very promising and christmasy brew, yet light and very quaffable. 271005
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy, orangey brown with a dense, yellowish head. Spicy aroma with some licorice. Medium body sweet notes of fruit - oranges in particular - spices and also dried fruit. Unfortunately there’s a vague, underlying tartness which I don’t believe is intentional. 7/3/6/3/12= 3.1 090507
