COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor's note: This beer has both been brewed at Holbæk Bryghus and at Herslev Bryghus. All bottles are brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

English: This pitch black beer is the house speciality. The style is a hybrid between a stout and a schwarzbier. The dark roasted malts adds a characteristic flavour with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. It has a distinct ’dark’ flavor, yet it is still light and refreshing.

Draught@Københavnske Øldage. Loads of sweet butterscotch and caramel, too much. Not very pleasant at all.

On tap at Copenhagen Oldage on 20 May 2006 (noted at 6.0%). Very dark colour with a lasting tan head. Roasty, with a touch of butterscotch in the aroma. Some coffee on the palate. Decent enough but a bit too sweet for my taste. I thought the mouthfeel was a little thin for a stout but now I see it’s meant as a stout/Schwarzbier hybrid I guess that’s understandable.

Copenhagen beerfestival 2007. Creamy brown head on a opaque dark base. Light dusty sour mash and roast nose. Quite a bit of milk chocolatety flavor. Mellow creamy mouthfeel. Delicate flavour profile.

Not the best hybrid, then it’s better to mix an IPA with a stout. It lacks hop!

Sampled at DØE Beerfestival 2009, Valby. Pours a very dark beer with a beige head. The aroma and flavor is roasted and coffee. The palate is bitter, and overall this beer is unbalanced.

Bottle@Øl&Mat 09, Oslo. Dark brown body, with a fingerthick tan head on top. Lightly roasted dark malts, dark dried fruits and some ashy notes in the aroma. Taste is bittersweet with a pleasant roastedness. Some licorice and tar. Mid-bodied and lively in the mouth. Dark malty, dryish ending. Well-crafted.

Bottle at Oslo Beer Festival, probably the best new beer I tasted there. Nice roasted malt, complex, griany flavour. Rye bread, syrup, some dryness balancing it off. Very pleasant.

Kestral (494) - Årnes, NORWAY - JUN 25, 2009
Pours almost black with red highlights, a ring of greyish brown suds. Aroma is mostly coffee, caramel and chocolate, a little hint of a funk, some hay, and a slight berrylike sourness to it. Flavour is dry and bitter coffee and chocolate, burnt notes, almost smoky. Not as complex as the nose. Medium body, too aggressively carbonated.
