3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tdtm82 (668) - Essex, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2010
Another bottle from the Papsoe trade, Papsoe you are a legend at acquitting me with the craft.
Poured into goblet glass. Good lacing, thins out on the edge. jet black opaque colour, reminiscent to tar. Creamy white head. Nice. Bourbon; oak, wood, coffee, grainy aroma. Chocolate too but very heavy stuff.
Rich malts, whiskey, reminscent of Oban, coffee, grainy, chocolate, quite malty, very bold malts, thick and nutty on the palate, quite aggressive for my liking but otherwise a pretty good brew. Enjoyed. Thanks, mate.

From tap at Ølbaren, somehow I guess Papsø should be thanked for this brew being in existence. Pours dark brown and with a dense chocolate brown head. Soft chocolate and smooth roasted malt aroma. Flavour is rather sweet. Has a nice caramel and chocolate flavour with a mild alcohol edge. Ends smooth and with a mild whiskey note lingering. Nice and smooth brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (24024) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 23, 2007
Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, cocoa beans, roasted malt, and lighter notes of bourbon and alcohol. The flavor is sweet though with an underlying acidity, and notes of hard roasted malt and bourbon, as well as lighter notes of alcohol and cocoal, leading to a dry roasted and slightly alcoholic finish. OK, but not great.

Thanks pink teddy! It’s a black beer with a red hue and huge, creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, light chocolate, light licorice and vanilla. The flavor is moderately sweet with slightly perfumed notes of vanilla and whisky, but also notes of roasted malt, licorice and in the aftertaste the whisky is more evident.
