2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Emil (6070) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 16, 2007
Partyfass, thanks to Papsø. Almost black colour with a big beige head. Light roasted, butter, brown sugar aroma and a sweet spicy, roasted, butter taste. Medium body with a sweet dry finish. Brought straight from the brewpub to the tasting session at Ølbaren, and just not good, infected maybe.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bager (2121) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - APR 18, 2006
5L partyfass. Almost black with medium brownish head. Nice sweetness. Flavour of caramel and malts. Also a hint of butter. A bit to mild though.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (23023) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 9, 2006
(On tap) Opaque dark brown but not completely black. Neat, creamy, beige cappuchinoish head. Aroma of roasted malt and a whiff of smoke. An unusual - but pleasant - overwhelming fruitiness, typical for Holbæk Bryghus but unusual for a Stout. Distinct accents of licorice - probably the added sage adds to this - and a vague ashy edge. Sweetish at first but relieved by some dryness while no real bitterness ever emerges. An interesting and rather complex beer. 090306
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (24024) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 11, 2006
An opaque dark brown beer - it even seems unclear - with a thin brown head. The aroma is malty with some dusty hoppy notes, but also hints of licorice and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel and roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of licorice, that gets stronger as You get closer to the end. A nice beer, but thin for being 6.6% ABV.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 joergen (14992) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 9, 2006
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2006 Draft at the brewpub.
Black coloured with a beige head.
Dry roasted aroma with notes of fruits and alcohol.
Sweet flavour of dried fruits and fruits with roasted notes.
Light roasted and alcoholic finish.
Not bad, but tastes like something in between an abbey dubbel and a stout.
Too sweet and fruity for a stout.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 stouby (2893) - Holbæk, DENMARK - FEB 7, 2006
Draught, at No. 5.
Black with a light brown head, mostly diminishing, fair lacings. Aroma moderate malty (brown sugar, caramel, light notes of licorice and smoke), light hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium body, creamy, flat to soft carbonated.
The brewer wants to raise the alcohol and thereby remove some sweetness.
