Hand pulled at the Great Western, Wolverhampton. Golden bitter, with thick frothy head. Deliciously balanced Bitter, with a really traditional feel. Sweet/bitter balance is good, with specks of honey and orange peel. Refreshing and super easy to swig.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 12, 2012
First tasted this in the Boswell Hotel, Glasgow in March 1991. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale straw in colour with a thin white head. Slight hint of warm yeasty bread in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a shortbread biscuit note with diluted lemon and grapefruit citrus flavours. Strong lemony hops in the floral, resiny aftertaste which combine well with the malt component. Finish is dry and malt edged with grapefruit pith evident. An ok session bitter.

Pints at The Pig with The Jenners and Dad, 10/11/11, having set up the beer and freezer in the village hall. Pre-blessing on the Saturday also. Marshmallow body. Long lick of creamy biscuit, honey. Clean sulphurous nose over hay. Hay and vanillla. Beautiful, uncomplicated stuff. Doesn’t tire.

Not a pleasant ale if I’m honest, it is pretty straightforward & lacking in flavour. In addition to this the pint felt slightly too warm & was definitely too thick feeling for my liking. The mild bitter finish was nice though but it is not one I would recommend.

Pint at the Old Manor in Bracknell. Golden beer with a small but well formed head. Tastes smooth, a little casky and a bit dry. Obviously quite bitter too, and its quite nice. Sweet and lightly fruity aroma, but faint. Ultimately it is a little too watery and boring to be a classic.

Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Amber with a thin white head; aroma of honey and Fuggles hops; crisp citrus flavour; with a strongly aromatic hopped finish. Very drinkable.

Cask handpull at Society Rooms JDW Maidstone. Gold lasting white head. Some minerality on this. Some decent character. Likeable session bitter. Not too bitter on finish but enough there. Good for an 8 pint session.
