A Mes rate. Gravicask at the Junction Tavern.
Amber colour with a slight bubbly collar. At the Junction? I kid you not, almost a head! Mellow but pleasant almost whisky malt aroma. Nice peaty character to it. Similar flavour but much more assertive and a big bitter hop finish. I’m not sure it works but it’s certainly interesting. Worth a scoop but not much more.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle with an evil looking dragon’s head on the front label, nicely packaged beer. The beer was best before the end of June 2011, it was poured into an Abbot Ale tankard and reviewed on 20th Feb 2011. Dull golden amber in colour, the head a full white foam covering. Fuggles Hops are used in the brew and they come through in both the smell and taste, the beer leaning heavily towards being hoppy more than a malty brew. Sharp and well carbonated, easy to drink, very refreshing and certainly hoppier than most English Ales.

500ml bottle at 5.6%. Pours golden with a large, frothy head. Aroma is bready malt, dried fruit and a hint of lemon. Taste starts with some bread and lemon. Thin, bready finish. Lots of carbonation.

Bottle. Surprisingly different from a brewery whose beers tend to be very similar-pleasant but not very adventurous. Dry with clear appearance. Average carbonation and quite pleasant.
