Bottled, 500ml from Waitrose, Headington, Oxon. Orange gold with slight head. Honeyed character, thickish with a slight chemical, salty background. There is a resinous hint over the thinnish malt. A bit of an odd one this.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DanielBrown (3155) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 6, 2012
Bottle from Global Wines, Bearwood. Pour orangey yellow, with a ring of white lace/froth. Aroma is a bit startling - dry, crusty etc. It tastes like a traditional Black Country Bitter - which it is. Dry, honey hued, sugar malted, breakfast cerealed, wallpaper flecked. Pretty crisp and clean, with a lingering finish. Pleasant enough. Uncompromising and traditional.

Bottled@chriso. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, grainy and some mild herbal notes. Flavour is fruity, woody, caramelly and a bit floral notes. Quite grassy hoppyness as well in the finish.

Nicely hopped with a sweet pale ale aroma and similarly light character in its taste.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 RichardGretton (4014) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 23, 2012
Bottle. Copper coloured beer with a strongish white head. The aroma is hopped with a touch of caramel, and the flavour is quite bitter with a malty toffee'ness. Overall a good bitter and toffee flavoured beer.

500ml brown bottle, best before Oct 2010, poured in my small ’La Chouffe’ tulip glass three times (on Saturday 21 Aug 2010).
Looked a picture, bright golden/light amber body with a lovely snow white foaming crown on top for each pour.
Grainy aroma, with a subtle hop presence around too.
The flavours blend well, hops dominate the initial taste, but the malts come through as the mouth warms the beer up, only for the hops to win the day as a bitterness arrives as the mouth dries.
I like Holden’s beers, they are uncomplicated, honest and very drinkable. I am suprised I haven’t reviewed a few more, because I regularly drink their beers on cask.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 erickok (2280) - Tours, FRANCE - APR 17, 2011
Golden body, too small head. Mild sweet start but nice and bitter from there on. Apple, wheat and dough. Bit sticky in the end. Fairly good on flavour. Easy to drink but misses some strength. Just too much carbonation. Fine but not amazing bitter. (50cl bottle)
