2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours ruddy amber with a small dissipating white head. Nose is lacking. Stewed hops, over-ripe fruits and watery caramel. Taste is a bit better. Sweet malts, better fruitiness, and caramel. Still lacking overall, though. Body is medium with mild carbonation. Finishes much the same as the flavor but thinner. First "bad" one I’ve had from the "Beers of America" set I got for my birthday yesterday. It’s not undrinkable, but it’s also not good.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Copper color with a thin head. Smells like the stale air of an old grain silo. Slightly sugary taste with nothing else going on.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured an amber color with a small off-white head. More aged fruity malt. It smells like every other beer they make. Do they leave the caps off for a week before the bottle these. Light malt flavor with a tartness to it. The best thing I can say about this beer is that I finally got to the end of the variety pack.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hazy ruby coloured body with a deep copper coloured tint and a very thin tan head. Aroma of fresh raisins, malt, caramel, figs and an unfortunate smell of metal and blood. Medium-bodied; Nice malty taste with a very sweet finish and a mild metallic flavour that lasts for a while. Aftertaste is very short and sweet - nothing horrible to speak of, but nothing amazing either. Overall, a decent marzen for being mass produced, but not outstanding. This is better than a lot because there was nothing offensive about the beer -just nothing spectacular. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Super H Mart (Korean Store) in Fairfax, Virginia on 18-September-2007.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is the last from the Historical Beer pack from Costco and does not make me think of either a marzen or lager. I think it is much better than either, and sorely underrated here. Mine tasted more like a hoppy amber. The head is actually better than the beer, which fades too quickly but I found this quite enjoyable (esp. given the supposed style(s)).

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Seems like I am one of the few who liked this beer. It had the color of caramel and almost no head. The aroma seemed to change through the glass. Over ripe apples and malts were evident throughout. Its flavor was a nice bitter with those aged apples again. It seemed to get smoother as the glass emptied. Quite nice.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2009 The aroma is malty and grainy with husks, cardboard, caramel, and a touch of hops. It has almost no head but the color is nice amber. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is a very forgettable beer but fits the style very well.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 oz from Publix in Brooksville, FL. Pours a clear brown with a soapy off-white head. Malty aroma with malty/ lagery flavor. Corn and some biscuitiness are detectable. No secrets to this one, it wears its heart on its sleeve.

YES, the "Historical Beers of America" collection. My father got this wooden tool box thing of beer for xmas last year. "hey, you want half of this?" Are they that bad, Pop? Twist off caps...beer don’t no.2! Copper in color, with a thin white head. This beer has the perfect marzen aroma. Then there’s the flavor. Its too bad you can’t taste it.
