4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is the last from the Historical Beer pack from Costco and does not make me think of either a marzen or lager. I think it is much better than either, and sorely underrated here. Mine tasted more like a hoppy amber. The head is actually better than the beer, which fades too quickly but I found this quite enjoyable (esp. given the supposed style(s)).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A little sweet but kind of heavy. It just has a different sort of flavor. Not nearly as good as others I had of this style but its ok.

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
More flavorful than the lager, crisp well malted beer. Proper marzen. Amber color with lasting head, decent aroma and well rounded finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good amber color on the pour, tannish head that disspipated quickly. maklty aroma with a trouvch of hops. I had this with a pizza (ok, maybe not a pure taste test), but thought it went well. I could see drinking several of these some night, and give it a good rating. Most drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thick, pillowy head over a clear, light orange color. Darker than a normal lager and very clear.
Has a sweet, malty, lager-y smell. Rather bold and interesting. Has a strong, pungent Belgian-ish accent in the aroma.
Strong lager taste with a sour finish, and that’s a good thing. Just a hint of Belgian goodness behind the otherwise standard formula. It’s a lager with a little secret.
Watery but with a thicker feel than most lagers. Has a foamy afterfeel, and a little bite at the end. This is a very excellent and drinkable lager. Has a German bite, but also smoothness. Has the German bitterness but the Belgian sourness. A good Kraut beer by way of Flanders.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured with an orange-amber hue, lightly active, with a thin head. The aroma is quite malty, like a malt shake even. Drinks with a similar grainy basis, but finishes with a clean hoppy tang. I find this an underrated example, true to the style. Good with my schnitzel tonight. (#3348, 3/1/2008)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Amber colored with a modest head and a mild toasty malt aroma. Light to medium bodied, caramel and toffee flavor, touch of salt and sourness, with a smooth slightly bitter finish. Seemed similar to their Berghoff Oktoberfest but I’m not really convinced it’s the same beer.

Nice little gem. sweet aroma of dark fruits and breads. Lovely medley of heavy raisins and cereal in the taste. medium to light bodied. I was surprised this was done so well.

Aroma: Caramel, hops, malt. ... Appearance: Copper with diminishing head. ... Flavor: Crisp and hoppy, with hints of caramel. A bit on the watery side. Malt present on the backside. ... Palate: Pleasingly dry. ... Overall: Not a bad little beer. Would drink again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from variety pack: Nice aroma of noble hops and roasted malt, pours deep amber with a quickly dissapating head which leaves good lacing, taste is a balanced combo of hops and toasted malts with the edge going to caramel malt, not a bad effort from Huber Brewing.
