A very smooth (especially for an 8% alcohol percentage) beer. A nice dubbel style ale. A honey/vegemite(!) aroma, taste has some cognac in it. Very nice and smooth, but just misses a little bit of ’oomph’

Clear brown color, brown head. Banana, sweet, malty scent. Sweet, banana taste. Sweet, spicy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Bottle from Beer Cartel (Sept 2014). Murky copper-brown, off-white head, candy sugar, toffee, dates/sultanas, Belgian yeast, liqueur-like texture, sweet slightly boozy finish. Good.

From a 500ml bottle on 21/4/2015. Pours a dark golden brown with a medium head. The nose is sweet and malty, with some dark fruit presenting, along with some Belgian yeast. Taste wise, it’s very sweet and dessert like, with lots of toffee, butterscotch, brown sugar, caramel and plum. Has the distinct abbey ale yeasty character, with a modest bitterness finishing things off. The palate is syrupy and sticky, with average to lively carbonation. This really is very good - actually much better than most Belgian dubbels I’ve tried.

Bottle tasted at Mane. Pours clear to hazy golden yellow with a sticky white cap on top. Nose is quite sweet and full of candied sugars and mild banana. The taste is very sweet candied sugars, mildly herbal and grassy with sweet toffee. It’s a pretty decent shout at a Dubbel but probably a little sweet for my liking, but then most Belgian Ales are. Solid stuff

Poured a translucent honey brown colour with a big (3+ finger) light tan foamy head that retained well and laced well. Carbonation high with small to medium bubbles. Aroma of sweet caramel/toffee. Taste of very sweet caramel malt, sugary dried fruits, and an alcohol taste coming through like a liqueur. Medium body. Sweet, sugary fruits on finish.

Flat, boring malt, no good fermentation by-products (esters and higher alcohols) but plenty of signs of a weak yeast, diacetyl, flat sweet palate. Really disappointing. I’ve tried a few of Gilgamesh beers now and been up satisfied with everyone

330ml brown bottle. Hazy brown pour with a creamy and small white head. Nose has caramel/toffee. Taste has caramel/toffee, raisins, chocolate and toasted malt. Aftertaste has some caramel and mild chocolate and light herbal hops and trace of chalky yeast. A bit sweet and rather simple but I enjoyed it.

330 ml bottle. Amber ruby with small orange head. Aroma sweet and malty, perfume, bread, dried fruit. Taste is sweet, malt, biscuit, dried fruit an faint yeast notes.
