COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed from the fresh water of the Macedon ranges in central Victoria. Inspired by the popular pale ales of Europe, brewer Paul Holgate has adapted Mt Macedon Ale to local conditions while utilising a traditional London yeast strain. This ale is characterised by its rich golden honey colour and the "real ale" flavour and aroma typical of top fermented beers. Mt Macedon Ale is moderate;y bittered and is finished with noble aromatic hops, which add to its complexity. The carbonation is generated naturlly by a secondary fermentation in the bottle, giving a soft, fine head. It is non-filtered and no-pasteurised. Enjoy this unique experience.

Not a bad beer but wouldn’t get it again. It’s not really my type of thing even though I like most Holgate beers.

On tap at Holgate tap takeover at the Durham, 23/4/2015. on tap as mt macedon pale ale. A most solid APA, very solid hop aroma and flavour. grassy dry hop flavours are perhaps a bit too dominant.

Draught at The Globe. Sweet citrus and caramel character, nutty cereals, bittersweet finish. Nothing too exciting but fairly drinkable hoppy amber ale.

Bottle tasted at Mane. For a simple session type ale this is pretty decent stuff. Mildly hoppy, goes down fresh and fruity and clean. Nice stuff

330ml bottle into schooner. Erupts wildly out of the bottle. Citric spicy nose. Grapefruit and pepper? Cloudy dark amber with settling off white head. Bitter clean taste. Short bitter creamy finish. Excellent.

Wonderful aroma of citrus, banana and something floral/sweet that is difficult to place. Pours clear amber with a frothy white head that thins but remains. Full bodied with a creamy texture and average carbonation. Light sweet and medium bitter taste with complex flavours of hops coming through. Overall a great drop that I highly recommend. I’m glad to live not far from the brewery and am looking forward to trying more of their beers.

Bottle. Orangey hue with white head. Citrus flower and fruit dominate the aroma. Subtle citrus, summer fruit and hints of caramel. Enjoyable APA.

Strong and hoppy nose... not surprising given there are Aussie, NZ and US hops stuffed in this brew. Nose is distinctly different to how it tastes. Never really knew what people meant when they described the taste as ’biscuity’... this is ’biscuity’. Do I like it? Not sure. Drank it after having a Founders Pale Ale, which was a superior brew.
