Brewed from the fresh water of the Macedon ranges in central Victoria. Inspired by the popular pale ales of Europe, brewer Paul Holgate has adapted Mt Macedon Ale to local conditions while utilising a traditional London yeast strain. This ale is characterised by its rich golden honey colour and the "real ale" flavour and aroma typical of top fermented beers. Mt Macedon Ale is moderate;y bittered and is finished with noble aromatic hops, which add to its complexity. The carbonation is generated naturlly by a secondary fermentation in the bottle, giving a soft, fine head. It is non-filtered and no-pasteurised. Enjoy this unique experience.

Not a bad beer but wouldn’t get it again. It’s not really my type of thing even though I like most Holgate beers.

Bottle. Orangey hue with white head. Citrus flower and fruit dominate the aroma. Subtle citrus, summer fruit and hints of caramel. Enjoyable APA.

Strong and hoppy nose... not surprising given there are Aussie, NZ and US hops stuffed in this brew. Nose is distinctly different to how it tastes. Never really knew what people meant when they described the taste as ’biscuity’... this is ’biscuity’. Do I like it? Not sure. Drank it after having a Founders Pale Ale, which was a superior brew.

Rating #980 - February 15, 2014 - $0.25 CAD for a 473ml Bottle from Depot (no doubt a clearance for some ancient product - also unsure if this complies with AGLC reg.) Clear amber pour, deep copper/red with a weak tan head, little retention. Aroma was nutty, and sweet malts. Taste was very grainy and bland. Not extremely hoppy at all, a lot of malt and grain in the taste, but fairly smooth on the finish. A barely drinkable ale, with nothing that stands out up front or in the finish.

Pours a golden color with a foamy white head that doesn’t hold. Malt flavour comes with some wheat notes that come in stages. Caramel and pine. The hop finish is distinctive. But the flavours do not compliment each other like most holgate beers do. Not their best effort, but very drinkable

A nice copper color with a white, medium head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is a little more on the sweeter side for the style. Caramel from the malt, orange and a little bit of pine from the hops. Taste is sweet upfront but quickly overtaken by the hops. Flavors are caramel or toffee, with a crisp citrusy finish. Medium mouthfeel with a fizzy body, and a nice dry lingering finish. good stuff
