COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true summer thirst quencher! This refreshing Wheat Beer is styled after the famous "wit bier" or white beer of Belgium and similar to the German "wiess biers". It is a hazy light yellow in colour, and during fermentation takes on a white appearance. Holgate White Ale is based on a special combination of wheat and barley malts, lightly hopped and loaded with a delicate combination of fresh Orange Peel and ground corriander seeds - all combining to make a refreshing and easy drinking Ale, perfect for summer conditions.

330 ml bottle. Pale yellow, cloudy beer with a thick lasting white head. Massive coriander and orange peel aroma. Some bubble gum and some candyish sweetness as well. Flavour is quite juicy. Big coriander and citrus flavours. Wheaty dryness and spice on the finish along with some dusty yeast.

9 May 2005 - A very light fruit & hop aroma. Cloudy yellow-orange colour and suds sheet lacing. Banana & bubblegum and heaps of lolly/candy hit over the head flavours. A weird mix of tastes but a bit of a mish-mash of flavours. Thinnish mouthfeel, with a strange hop finish. Overall - Dissapointing.....and where are the aroma hops....a bit of a grab bag of flavours.

Pale hazy yellow, fizzy head. Thin body, generally an unremarkable example of the style.

unusual aroma. Could’nt detect anything? Cloudy yellow colour with good head and lacing. Light bland hop flavour. Fizzy palate. Would have expected better from the brewery.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2005 Very good attempt at a white ale. Bursting with coriander and citrus flavours. Poor head retention. Very, very refreshing on a warm day in the beer garden of the Holgate Brewhouse. One of my real favourites. For an Australian attempt at a white ale, this is probably as good as your gonna get in this country.

Bottle-conditioned Australian wheat beer. Looked like frothy lemon barley water and the head didn’t hang around. The nose is promising - sweet malts, some citrus and coriander notes. The palate is light, summery and quenching. Spritzy mouthfeel. Citric hop notes and some spices. Spoiled by the abrupt finish and lack of body. (Bottle)

Cloudy off white color on pouring. Plenty of flavour and left a clean aftertaste. I think I could drink this all afternoon...

It looks about right, off white yellow colour, big white head that lasts, but to taste it was, well not much really. A bit tart I guess, a bit sweet sort of, but the aftertaste is most certainly a bit tart, I don’t think I could drink another one, but I was able to drink the one. It didn’t really taste of much really, just like a not so great wit.

Rocky white head, cloudy yellow. Aroma is spicy, herby and of dry citrus. Once tasted, a dry spicy brick smacks you in the face, cumin, ginger, coriander and tumeric, sink pour.
