Aldi USA import that tries to mimic Heineken. An inexpensive import, slightly skunky with hops. Easy drinking but not a flavorful as Heineken.

It poured a pale golden yellow color with no head. The aroma was of sourish grainy character, corn and some straw. The taste was similar with a touch of sour, some grain and a bland finish.

After a long walk in the neighborhood on the first warmish day after a never-ending winter you may find yourself at Aldi. They offer three beers as far I could see, a German one, this dutch one and a corona clone. The german one wasn’t too bad and well this wasn’t too bad either. Not great and tastes pretty much like a grassier less sweet not quite a good version of Heineken but decent enough. The missus uncharacteristically likes it too. Serving: Bottle

Clear yellow with a small white head. Very mild aroma of corn flakes. Taste is a little sweet, grainy, slightly citrusy, and a touch medicinal. Light bodied and slightly dry.

Nothing offensive or exceptional here. Pours a typical pale yellow with a medium white head and decent lacing. Aroma is a slightly off-putting fermented corn and grain. Taste is light, mild hops, hay and a tinge metallic but not overwhelming. Drinks fairly easy and finishes clean. Again nothing that stands out.

Pour is a yellow with a large white head. Aroma is burning and sulfur. Flavor is non offensive with some graininess, that’s about it. I was in a lager mood but this was a pretty poor choice. Nothing going on here.

Poured a very light and Watery yellow. Aroma is skunky and bready. Tastes like a very light Heineken. May of tasted better for a brown (not green) bottle. Got the beer for free so no loss on my end.

1/12/2011: Holland Lager 1839... Aroma: Dry, dusty, fainty funky. Appearance: Pale gold; clean and clear; whispy off-white and creamy head. Flavor: Very light toffee grains; weak bitterness. Palate: Light body; well carbonated. Overall: Tastes like a LIGHT Heineken

11.2 fl. oz. bottle from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #26 for this beer.

Might be a decent brew if it wasn’t for the green bottles sitting in the lights all day at the stores and possibly the distributors. Got this at Aldi’s and thought it might compare to Heinekin or Bavaria. Guess it does so far, with that wonderful skunk funk. When will these idiots learn that you can’t put the six packs of green bottles out in the light for display.

Bottle. This was the cheapest beer available at the bar...and there was a reason for that.
