COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A lager beer with a 400 year old tradition. Dutch history records our brewery as early as 1620, in the feudal provonce of Ultrecht. When you next come to our pretty market town of Maarssen, please stop to taste this fine, rich beer at its birthplace, but until then, please enjoy a bottle of my favorite brew, Hollande 1620.

Deep yellow colour, minimal head. The strangest odour of canned spaghetti and tomato sauce. Immediately an off-note in the mouth...something musky. Mid-palate opens up some calm hops, brown rice, and then more musk. Finish is smoggy and un-settled in the throat. Starchy complex throughtout. Something is not right with this one.

Basically identical to Heineken, maybe a little better; it’s definitely better than the typical American macro lager. Very slight grassy/hay aroma and flavor. Nothing special and very forgettable.

A crisp pils aroma. The flavor is also dry and crisp but has some butter notes up front that really drag it down.

11.2 fl oz bottle. Totally clear pale yellow color, minimal head. Mildly skunky, yeasty aroma. A bit over carbonated. Light sour aftertaste. However, better than Heineken IMO, and can’t argue with the $4/6 price.

Pours a white, fading head with a clear, pale straw body. Smells of grain and a little hops. Tastes is malt and clean hops. Slightly dry with a little skunk.

This beer is a typical beer from Holland. It doesn’t taste real spectacular. Use your money to buy a lottery ticket when you come across this beer.

2009 Bottle - Pours a pale yellow with a large white head...aroma is grassy and metallic...flavour is sweet malt, light bitterness, I kid not, that is it...very, very boring...apparently it’s just a shitty lager kind of day for me...

Just picked this up one day because I had not tried it and it was not overly expensive, worst case scenario my dad wil drink it. Has that typical green bottle skunkiness we have all come to know and love in imported lagers. Lemony citrus nose, with a grainy malt texture and some grassy hops. All of this being very faint, with a watery finish. Meh.

12 oz bottle. Pours a pale yellow color with maybe a hint of orange with a small white quickly disappearing head. It has a little bit of a skunky aroma. This is a very unusual beer. I taste some hop bitterness, some tomato, some buttered toast, some grass and some flowers. It’s hard to believe it tastes like it does. I’m not sure what to make of this one.
