Growler shared at the December tasting in Santa Cruz. Smokey, sweet coffee, bready bitter finish, nuts, dry chocolatey notes. Solid but unspectacular.

Pour is dark brown with a thick khaki head. Huge coffee aroma and some sweet sugar notes. A nice chocolate aroma, some toffee, and plenty of cocoa. The flavor is dominated by the coffee as well. Nice earthy notes, sweet dark fruit, and plenty of chocolate. There’s a really nice balance of roast and sweetness.

Murky brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, light roasted malt, and some sweetness. Taste is a nice combination of coffee and chocolate with complimentary roast and a slightly thin finish with some sweetness. Clean but perhaps a bit watery in the mouth. Good coffee/chocolate heavy porter.

Pours dark brown. Nice coffee aroma that follows through into the flavor. But after the initial burst the taste thins out considerably.

(Draught) Pours a black body with a medium beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, some vanilla, and raisins. Flavor of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt, and lactose.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a nearly black body and a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, light coffee, creamer. Big coffee taste, mocha, creamer, lactose. Medium bubbles, big bodied. VERY tasty!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a generous tan head and a strong coffee aroma. There is a rich chocolate and coffee flavor with a long dry finish. Very tasty.

Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a thin, brown head with little lacing. It’s sweet and malty with notes of fruit and a light roasty coffee note. The nose was much better than the corresponding flavor. Medium to full bodied, smooth and a touch warming.

Served on tap at Port Carlsbad. The appearance is a flat brown/black with a small lacing cream brown head. The aromas and flavors are heavy roasted coffee, with some lacing of dark chocolates. At times there is almost a hint of peanut butter. No idea where that is coming from. The mouth is really sticky. A nice coffee infused beer.
