Very good. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 16, 2007 From tap at the brewpub. Pours deep brown with a little orange hue and a lacing off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty and with a mild spice nose. Flavour starts mildly sweet caramel malty and with a soft cinnamon and cardemomme spice note. Soon a more subtle bitterness appears which holds a mild clove note. Soft and slight spice finish. Nice brew. Ungstrup (11338), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 12, 2008 Bottled as Holmegaard Bock. An amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel and malt as well as strong notes of pumpernickle bread, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish. Grovlam (3198), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. [Papsoe tasting 31-08-2008, thanks buddy] Huge creamy beige head that mostly lasting. Good display of lacework. Clear mahogany color. Aroma of roasted malt and mild chocolate. Over the palate came rye bread and mild dusty grain. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Lingering rye bread finish. Quite clean and lovely Bock. Maria (4321), Thisted, Denmark Jul 21, 2008 The color is beautiful, dark red-brown and the head is nice, and creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and hints of vegetables. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, caramel, hints of licorice, light fruit and a slightly citrussy bitterness. I know that a bock is supposed to be sweet, but I prefer them just like this, medium sweet with room for hops too – so IMO it’s a nice bock!
