The color is medium yellow. Large white airy head. The smell is quite weak. Some bitter notes as well as some herbs. A touch of sour dough. The taste is, as a German “edel” is supposed to be, mild. Some sweet notes, some anonymous bitterness. The aftertaste is quite malty with some bitter hops and butter in the finish. The carbonation is rather strong; small bubbles. The liquid is watery. More malt than in a standard Euro lager, otherwise a quite simple brew.

KoNrRiI (458) - Århus, DENMARK - AUG 1, 2014
0.33 bottle. Clear, gold color and a medium, white, creamy head. The aroma is very commonplace - hay, cereals, a small hint of hops. Taste is bland and dull - a little bit of sweet hay and wet clothes. Light body, thin texture, and average carbonation. Finish is short-lived and just as uneventful. Overall the beer is very typical for a pale lager but lacks proper hopping to be rightly called a pilsener.

abemorsten (2682) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - FEB 21, 2014
0,33 l bottle from Citti Flensburg. Clear golden body with a small white head. Fresh lemon and herbs on wooden light malts fill the nose. Malty sweet, Light to medium bodied. Well balanced bitterness that lasts and reveal cardboard way towards the end. Matched well with taco and a guacamole flavored with crushed coriander seeds..

In the eighties in Hamburg I had some nice experiences with a few litres of this, though it tends to give one a hard time the next morning. "Holsten Edel sprengt den Schädel" (detonates the skull) as the saying goes. But its still very much better than Astra, the other popular beer of Hamburg.

A bottle from Hamburg. Dark golden beer with a decent head. A bit more grainy, but overall not much difference from a normal pils.

Bottle. Clear gold with a thin short lived head. Aroma and flavour a kinda malty pale lager as opposed to a pils. Not up to much

Fairly ordinary German pilsner with no taste sensations. Works well for bratwurst and sauerkraut.

Bamsen78 (3078) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - NOV 27, 2012
Bottle. Pours clear pale golden, rather fizzy, with unstable white head. Light aroma of hop with a somewhat metallic finish. Quite watery. Bitterish taste of hop and not much else. A little dry finish. Nothing special.
