UPDATED: DEC 23, 2008 This was a 500ml can. Tasted this during the first campfire of the year. Great looking beer, chocolate brown with a nice and creamy head. Aroma was malt and apples. A sweet taste as well, malt and chocolate. A little bit of hops in the finish. Not your typical German beer by any regard, but it was still very enjoyable.

Originally rated April 2005. Holsten Festbock pours a cola colour (brown with ruby highlights) with a tanned head. The head is not so big, and does not last long, but it leaves some decent lace. The aroma is of raosted malts and alcohol. The flavour is sweet with caramel malts and also grainy in the finish. Very smooth and thin mouthfeel. A pretty good session bock.

Pours a light brown, an inch of white head. Some toffee and prunes on the nose. More of the same on the palate....lots of carbonation, thin mouth feel...not bad.

Okay,so I see I havnt rTED THIS here b4. Just had my 2nd one ever months after the 1st one. Geez its ruby red with some head but like about a min or less later I thinki it lest fast capbonation bubbles. Um,it’s like a hard liquor type beer. Boozey,surypy and heavy bodied not terrable but not amazing. It got me a decent buzz and feeling full and what not. Cheers!

Acheté à la SAQ de Rouyn-Noranda. My first sip, I said pretty descent one. Half the can, I said not that good. At the end of the can, I said yark what a bad beer.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2012 Can. Deep golden colour with a white head. Sweet carmale malty nose. Sweet malty flavour

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2012 Can. Reddish brown colour with faintly sweet aroma. Nice sweet malty taste. Not a lot of flavour but passable.

500ml can. Deep amber colour. Sweet, roasted malt and alcohol tastes. Low/medium carbonation.

Gift from Southern Johnny. Dark brown-black pour with big creamy head. Grassy / tim aroma. Flavor was thin , watery with hints of roasr with a bitter / sweet malt finish. I like my German beers, but this one fell a little short for me.

50cl can into Chimay Trappist glass. Aroma: This smells pretty nasty...woody, burnt plastic smells, black tea. Barley? Yep. Something weird about it too....but I don’t know what. Appearance: Crystal clear dark red-brown, about the same colors you’d see on leaves in autumn. One finger off white head which stayed for about 5 minutes. Taste: Honey, licorice, burnt wood, barley. At first it’s agreeable, but there’s one element that’s really off about it, but I don’t know what exactly, very much like the aroma. Palate: It’s drinkable. Just kidding, it sucks, no character whatsoever. Full bodied? My ass. It’s better than the average can of piss, but it’s still in need of serious work. Get rid of that awkward, super sour aftertaste and it might be good. Overall: Mostly shitty, BUT, it does have some flavor to it and it’s an eyeopener that reveals just how talented some brewers are. $2.50 a fucking can....oh well, at least I’ll get a buzz off of it and I had to torture myself with some bad beer someday...

This is a good dark lager for Lagerboys to branch out on. Nice copper brown colour, medium bodied, some caramel and toffee, sticky sweet and roasty malts, very lightly hopped and effervescant. A nice light bock.
