33cl bottle from Germany, amber-gold with thin clingy head, a little apple and pepper on the nose, quite smooth, a little sweet, spicy notes, doesn’t drink its ABV.

A difficult beer to review; not sure if I liked it or not. Colour as poured (from the can) was a nice gold with lots of carbonation and a medium-to-small white head that didn’t last very long. Aroma was mostly hop over malt, not bad at all. Taste was similar although I found the aftertaste too sharp for my liking.

Very light color. Little head. Minimal aroma. Has two levels of taste. Initially is very strong of alcohol and a bit of hops. The second level is fruity and smooth.

Sampled from a 500ml can purchased at the LCBO. Pours yellow with a quick to leave white head. Tastes of slight grain and alcohol.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2009 500ml can. A great 7% beer from the LCBO. Very drinkable and offers enough of a challenge. I personally quite enjoy it but I know those who wouldnt. I often start my night with a Holsten Maibock.

mild sweet aroma; sweet flavor as well. for a strong beer, alcohol is faiulry well hidden by the flavour. lightly carbonated; slightly sweet mild finish

Nice well balanced nose. Looks and tastes like a lager. I don’t mind the alcohol jumping out, if it has body to support it. Alas, this does not. I have not been impressed by any of the Holsten offerings, there seems to be obvious flaws with each, it’s not that bad but, I expected much more. As Oakes said, they should know better than to try to pass this off as a bock.

Gold and foamy, sweet and a bit too fruity.
But hides the heaviness of the alcohol content pretty well. Not too heavily carbonated
Nothing special, but decent enough.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Panzerfaust (509) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - JUL 23, 2007
Can, 500 ml Pours a shining, clear and beautiful golden colog with a medium to big white and creamy head. It lasts for a while and leaves a fair lacing.
Aroma is malty with subtle german herbal hops and a touch of alcohol. Notes of apricot marmalade, ripe peaches, pears and herbs. Solid in my book.
Flavor is pretty sweet but turns to bittersweet in the finish. Hints of fruits and cereal all over the place and without hop flavor to counterbalance. It finishes with an alcohol overpowering. Decent.
Body is medium with a full mouthfeel. Syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Alcohol is over-the-top in every way including the finish. Agreeable aftertaste. A decent Maibock from Holsten with just too-much alcohol.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 davidpl (435) - Santiago, CHILE - AUG 23, 2007
Appearance: amber orange color. Little head, without persistency, white color.
Aroma: pale malty, candy, honey and fruity. Sweet-fruitiness of red apples, peaches and papayas. Floral-hoppy, metallic and camomile end.
Flavor: sweet pale malty, candy, vanilla; fruitiness of apples, peaches and grapefruits peel orange; bitter-fruity of peel orange. Sweet malty start, finish with fruity and hoppy-herbal touches, the hops insensitive is medium and persistent, the aftertaste have similarity to peel citric-fruits and medicinal herbs like camomile. Slight warming like camomile’s liquor. Metallic finish, not from can.
Palate: light body, semi-oily texture. Medium carbonation.
Nice persistent herbal-hoppy, soft but multiplicity fruitiness. Good surprise from a international commercial brewer.
