2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 raymondwave (931) - FINLAND - JAN 1, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 Quite a basic northern german lager. Not as crisp as the pilseners from Germany, but packs a bit more flavor than your average north european lager.

Yellow color, fine head which doesn’t last really long. Aroma sweet and skunky. But from here its boring and bland, just another mass produced mass marketed sweet chemical tasting swill.

’Holsten Pils’, 5% bottle. Gently malty with very little in the way of hop bitterness. Only a very distant hint of rubber. Vaguely fruity nose. The draught version I’ve sampled in Germany is far hoppier than this. Obviously far too bland to qualify as a Pilsener, and ’Premium lager’ is pushing it.

This is very similar to the premium lager in every respect, perhaps even more bitterness in the finish. A solid german-style lager.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 D (577) - Gdynia, POLAND - AUG 10, 2006
Strong bitter taste, hops notes and nice grainy finish. Very refreshing, drinks well; just over the average of German pilsners.

Nice head to this one, but pretty average in flavor, nothing bad at all though, light grassiness, some malt, some bitterness, on occasion, cheap in my area of Germany, but otherwise, its a pass on this one. Average.
