500ml Bottle from Lidl, Langley Moor. This has a strange, very pinkish, red-brown hue with moderate carbonation driving a loose, off-white head that diminishes very quickly leaving the beer look a little flat. The nose is equally unappealing with sickly overripe notes jarring with vinegar and making me fear that this would be a shocker. Fortunately the taste is better, with soft, doughy malts prominent and as promised some maple syrup flavours on a dry finish. It’s full and just a little lively on the palate. I had this while eating dinner; its slight stodginess definitely complements food.

Clear deep amber color with small off white foam. Aroma of malt and bit caramely, quite weak and sweet, typical for a bitter. Palate, Medium body with thickish oily texture leaving calamel malt finish. Taste, Lightly bitter, malty, oily and nutty but quite simple. Overall, As a bitter it is quite nice full body and full flavour but quite typical.

Bottle. Appearance - deep amber with a red hue. A decent head. Nose - maple, as well as usual toffee. Taste - more toffee, light nuttiness, maple I suppose. Palate - close to medium bodied with a rich creamy middle section and a finish which could be a little cleaner, to be honest. Overall - a decent ESB but I’d like more clean biscuit notes on the finish.

(Bottle) Clear coppery amber with almost no head. Pleasant but subtle light toffee aroma. Medium body with good carbonation. Nice taste - rich and sweet with toffee malt flavours and distinct maple notes with some slight tangy and bitter balance. Good beer with maple present but not overwhelming. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from lidl, wednesbury. Amber beer with small residual head. Aroma of caramel and malts. Taste is malts, some sweetness that could be maple syrup but since I have never had it, I can’t be sure and some mold hop bitterness. Ok.

Aroma: Medium-high toffee, floral, Appearance: Brilliant copper body. Small, tan head, low retention. Flavour: Medium floral, medium-high bitterness. Light malty sweetness. Dry finish with lingering floral and light bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation. Carbonic sting. Overall: Carbonation is a big problem. The flavours are great though. 500 ml bottle, poured. 8C. Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale)

Stale smell and a bit of that in the taste too. Soft sweet biscuit. Light spice and cherry. Pretty unremarkable I’m afraid.
