Very dark but clear ruby-tinted beer with an off-white frothy head and a very sweet, fruity smell. Not that strong in the mouth but a sharp, fruity aftertaste. Doesn’t taste nearly as strong as it is and it’s one you’d have to be careful with!

500ml bottle from B+M. Reflective ruby with a slim beige lid. Invitingly rich, malty aroma with suggestions of prune, christmas cake and Curly Wurly. Fine, doppelbock-accented brew exuding muscovado and cocoa-sprinkled dried fruits; malt loaf, slight cough medicine and black cherry (Tunes). Pretty good.

Pint bottle poured into a large chalice. Dark ruby with beige head. Coffee and prune aroma. Really rounded toffee and dried fruit flavour, with the fruit predominant. A bit of orangey citrus marmalade reveals itself. Full bodied, slightly sticky flat carbonation. There are many of them, but tthis is a lovely "fruitcake" beer

Pours almost totally black with a short lived off-white head. Aroma is roasty notes with coffee with hints of fruits. Taste is also coffee with roasted malt and alcohol leading to a sweetish roasty finish with light hop notes. Not bad.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn
Hazy brown color, with generous head. Very nice aroma of dark malts, caramel, wood, cream, light smoke. Good body, with good malt and caramel flavor, some toffee, treacle; the final is more woody, and drier (this is a pity), with delicate smoke.
For once a different Ale, very good.
